Shigoto update, wheee!
I've been a useless zombie that past few days. Lucky for me I only have three titles at the moment. Buh.
Straight to the good stuff:
Claymore - Vol 16 is almost done, I have 6 pages left. It's due next week. As previously mentioned, this volume has a killer cliffhanger, though I suppose in a couple months I'll find out what happens, when Clay Editor sends me the tanko (Japanese volume) of 17. Yes, I could hunt up scanlations of Clay and find out for myself, but reading scanlations of my titles doesn't sit well with me. I don't like to do it for non-licensed titles, either... *has been saddled with manga morals* Nrgh.
Nana - I'm waiting for the 2nd half of vol 21's script. No word yet if Yazawa-sensei is back to drawing new chapters in Japan. A new one hasn't appeared in Nana's Japanese mag, Cookie, since June. O.o Wow. Six months now...I hope Yazawa-sensei feels better soon. :|
Naruto - Volume 48 is already here! O.o This is good, though, as it gives me some extra time to do the conversion. I've had one month each for the previous 3 volumes, so the extra time is welcome. Looks like a key scene was seriously reworded between GN and mag. It will be interesting to see what was changed and how. Naruto Editor is also talking about volumes in 2011...looks like Naruto is NOT winding down. Interesting...
Natsume - I'm almost finished with the first half of volume 3 and waiting for script on the 2nd half. I also received my freebie copies of the English volume 1, and I must say it looks quite nice! ^^ The cover design is different from the Shojo Beat line standard design, and the unique look is shiny. Kyaaa! Volume 1 will be out on shelves in early January. I now have Japanese tanko through volume 8! This pleases me muchly. ^^
New Title 5 - Still no script, raw pages, nor tanko. I did see this vol on the shelves at Uwajimaya. Alas, it was shrink-wrapped, so I could not sneak a peek. (No, it's not pr0n, Uwajimaya shrink-wraps ALL their manga, even the innocent stuff. Spoilsports! :P~~~~~~~) See my comment in Clay about how I feel in regards to scanlations of my stuff for added relevance. I HAVE finished the rasterizing of all the screen tones that came with Deleter. There isn't much point in me buying sheets of real screen tone to scan, since my scanner only goes up to 600 dpi and I need 1200 for lettering purposes. Blast. *is irritated about that* I'll have to keep shamelessly ganking tones from my other titles in the hopes I'll have an extensive library for dealing with this tone-happy mangaka. *determined pose*
Skip - Volume 21 is still done, as reported in my last shigoto update, No script yet for 22, thus Skip lettering is currently on pause. I hope it resumes soon, as I miss Skip. U.U Nana, Natsume, Naruto, and even Clay are all emo these days. I need some laughter!! Though flipping through my Japanese copy of 22 doesn't promise much in the way of lulz, it will still have more than the other titles.
Tsukushi (work computer) was complaining about lack of hard drive space on c:\, so I used the automatic "free up space!" option Windows provides...which screwed up Seth, my printer. He arbitrarily would spit out blank or mostly-blank pages. I reinstalled his software on Tsukushi and things seem to have returned to normal. *knocks on wood*
I've also had two chances to read more first chapters, but I have not taken them because zombie!s2m does not finish her daily work quota and thus does not deserve a treat like reading manga in the bookstore. No, I do not. *shakes chiding finger at herself*
Part of the reason I've been so tired lately is I've been going to sleep too late. With Daylight Savings making the sun set at 5 PM, everything is screwy. <:\ I need to start going to sleep earlier. Around 12:30 at the latest, and that INCLUDES reading time.
Looks like I'll be flying out of Portland twice in December, once to visit my cousin in Montana, and again to visit the family back in TX. Usagi (my laptop) will be going with me to both places, particularly since I now have Naruto 48. I wonder if I can squeeze Anthy (Uasgi's tablet) into my carry-on suitcase? Will security make me take her out and place her in a bucket like they require with laptops?? IDK. Has anyone here flown with a tablet before?
That's it for this month's shigoto update. Let us hope tomorrow I am genki again. It would be quite nice...
