I'm back!

Yes, I have returned to the land of rain, hippies, and flaming liberals. Ahhhhh, feels good to be back! Don't get me wrong, I love visiting my family and friends, but it's only the family and friends I want to see. Okay, and the excellent food you can't find here in OR, as well. ^^ Though I'd rather eat it than look at it. :9

My trip was short but fun. I managed not to get roped into doing 100 things every day, which means I was even able to relax. ^^ The flights were easy, though I admit the landing on my return flight had me nervous. Lots of turbulence and cloudy weather. I had to stand in the wind and cold and rain at one point last night, waiting for 20 minutes for the blue train. I also had to run, lugging my suitcase and laptop bag, from the train station to my apartment--almost a mile--in aforementioned bad weather, but hey. It's Portland! *laughs*

I seem to have caught a cold, no doubt picked up from someone on one of my flights and exacerbated by the ~45 minutes in nasty weather. It doesn't seem too bad a cold though. Could be worse!

I like the repairs and remodeling my parents are doing to our home. The bamboo flooring, the new tile in kitchen and bathrooms too, the new rock on the front of the house, it's all lovely! The 80 foot tower my parents had installed so they could have fast and reliable internet is quite nice, too. ^^V

Unfortunately, I cannot find my little green notebook. :| I could swear I packed it, but I couldn't find it while packing again for my trip home from Texas, and it isn't in my apartment now. Either it ended up under the bed in my parents' house, or I dislodged it from my laptop bag while pulling out one of my books on the flight to TX. I just called the Dallas airport's lost and found. "Leave a message with item description and your contact info, we'll call you ONLY if we find it." T.T I'll call my parents when my mom is home from work later today. It won't be a tragedy or even a real inconvenience to lose it, but I still want it back. *sigh* And of course, while looking for the notebook, I found my car's CD changer remote control, which has been lost for almost a year. *snort* Never fails. Maybe in a year I'll find my notebook. :P~~~

On the flight back to Oregon, I tried something for the first time: I pulled out my laptop and did some writing! I added about 600 words and did some major note taking on my most recent fanfic. Yes, I still dabble in it from time to time, purely for my amusement and stress relief. ^^ Some people relax by watching football, for others it's knitting, or cleaning house. Me? I like playing in other people's sandboxes. All in good fun!

Three lovely things were waiting for me when I returned to my apartment. Two goodies from Viz: my copies of Clay 17, kyaaa! And my yearly office Giftmas card, signed by all my fave editors. X3 I must be sure to email them thanks for sending me their kind messages. I keep meaning to start sending out my own Giftmas cards, but I want to draw my own art and never seem to find the time. Maybe if I started in July... The third thing was a SLICE OF PIE that magically appeared in my fridge. It must be a gift from Chiz, dropped off on one of her Spicer-kitty visits. Heeee! :9

Speaking of my cat, he's been all OVER me since I walked in the front door. Poor guy, he hates being alone so much. At least he stopped yelling at me after the first 10 minutes of my return. I thought he was going to freak out when I ducked into the bathroom to take a shower after that frantic run home through bad weather. He almost joined me in the tub, I kid you not!

I also took Tsuksuhi's tower outside and used some canned air to clean out all the dust. And there was a lot of it, since I've never cleaned her guts before. ^^;; I have her all plugged in again, but I have yet to turn her on. *gulp* I'm afraid she won't restart...um....*turns her on and holds her breath* Looks good so far...success! I do believe she survived being turned off after an entire year of constant running, and my inexperienced cleaning today! Yay!! I have given myself the day off, but working even a little bit will help me relax. ^^ Natsume 8 awaits!

Upcoming in a later post: pics!! XD Possibly flocked, I haven't decided yet. :D
