Work, colds, Liaden universe, and one of my fave manga!

Of all the manga I letter, Natsume is the one that inspires me to create my own the most. Yesterday I lettered a flashback scene in vol 8 that brought tears to my eyes, it was so amazing. *sniffles*

Speaking of sniffles, the cold I picked up on my flight back to Oregon really kicked in. It's still hanging around, but at a reduced level. Yay! I hate being sick, especially when I have a great deal of work.

Natsume 8 and Skip 24 are both due at the end of the month, which means I'm lettering like mad. Wheee! Fun times, especially since I couldn't even mange a half amount of quota each day while I was sick. I'm back on track though, and making up for the lost pages. 2011 is off to a fun start, eh?? ^^

Book-wise, I've been reading some fun stuff. If you enjoy sci-fi, I highly recommend the Liaden series, by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller. It's fun, creative, and just science-y for my taste. Also the characters have emotions and relationships, which is what I truly care about! (Some of the sci-fi novels I read for my book club are as emotionally complex as a dried corn husk. :\) Anyway, I read vol 1 of the Liaden universe a while back for the same book club, and have pursued the later volumes for my own enjoyment. A friend loaned me her copy of vol 4, which I couldn't find anywhere. It was very good! I do have vol 5, but it's a prequel volume set before vol 1, so I'm going to wait to read that one. I have 3 books of the various side stories and short story collections, which is about a third of them. Amusingly enough, the Wiki page offers a better guide for reading order and what stories are available where than the official one. ^^

I tend to switch back and forth between prose and manga/comics, which means I am now reading one of my favorites, Loveless by Kouga Yun. *patiently waits for the sniggers to die down* This series is amazingly deep and deals with dark issues, all hidden under a catboy veneer. Kouga-sensei leaves me speechless in amazement, really. The last time I read the series, it was only out through vol 5, so now I have 3 volumes beyond that to enjoy! XD Vol 9 is already out in Japanese, hopefully Tokyopop will release the English version SOON. Of which I will pounce on the first printing, so I can have me some ~color pages~. XD

And let me say that Kouga-sensei has the level of fame that I want to achieve. She can finish a new chapter of a series whenever the hell she wants, and offer it up to the publisher who is grateful to get it at all. Deadlines?? Who cares about deadlines??? She's KOUGA YUN!!! Deadlines do not apply!!

That's the way to do it, right there. *laughs*

And now, it's time for me to return to work, for I am not Kouga Yun, alas. *sigh* <:) Heywow, the perfect chance to use my one Loveless icon! :3
