Hoth, don't do this to me!! T.T

ETA: looks like calling the manufacturer won't do any good. They'll want me to ship Hoth back to them, and that's just laughable. Google has given me some encouraging repair results--people who will come TO Hoth--so that's good. Wish me luck!

Today, summer remembered it is officially here, and my portable A/C, Hoth, has sprung a leak. I noticed the last time I used his A/C function, he seemed to be leaking from the bottom. Today, I have confirmed it without a doubt. The shallow pans I had beneath him were not enough to catch all the water. Argh.

The good news is two-fold: 1. I can use his dehumidifier function without risk of crazy leakage. It's apparently only the cooling that generates the uncontrollable water. Good news 2: His manufacturer is still open for business. I called their 1-800 number, but of course they are closed.

I don't have a warranty on Hoth, and even if I did I doubt it would be good any more, since I bought him 2 years ago.

He's now sitting on my old shower curtain, and I'm hoping tomorrow isn't a scorcher like today, and that the customer service rep I talk to on Monday can send their local repair representative to fix Hoth ASAP. And if they can't, and I have to find someone myself...well then. Hello google! :/

Anyone want to take bets on how much fixing him will cost?? If worst comes to worst, I'd keep him as-is and make sure to empty my shallow trays every 20 min or so. But that would get annoying FAST.

My kingdom for central air. Or a big, healthy tree between my western window and the sun. *sigh*
