I have a kitten in my bathroom!
I am one more home in Oregon! I do love visiting with my family and good old friends...I just wish I didn't have to go back to TX to do it. :P I don't think I'll be able to return over the holidaze this year. Money is somewhat short, and Shoujo Editor 2 said the next volumes of Natsume and Skip will probably be rushed over the next few months. (Still can't start on either, no raw pages from Japan. Alas!)
I was wrong in my previous post: the pregnant cat wasn't left behind by one of my sister's former tenants, but one of the neighbors nearby her rental place. In a curious case of circumstance, her longtime friend Dr. H also lives nearby in her own house. Dr. H was the one who took in the pregnant cat. I'm not sure how I ended up mixing things, but now I've got it right. :B
The flight back was...boring. Which is a good thing! My first first-class flight experience was rather overshadowed by taking care of my kitten, Kakashi. He cried during take-off, and I took him out and held him in my lap. He fell asleep upside down with his paws in the air. The two flight attendants were smitten. He remained in my lap until dinner, when I returned him to the carrier. I took him out once my (and my neighbor's) trays were removed. Kakashi curled up in the crook made by my hip and left elbow and went back to sleep. Back in the carrier for landing, and the van ride home.
That was a very smart thing to do, BTW. Normally I'd just ride the train home, but I decided settling Kakashi in my place after a 4 hour flight, 1.5 hour train ride, and 25 minute walk back to my apartment lugging a suitcase, my laptop bag, AND Kakashi was a bit much. :B I made reservations before I left for a van to drive me home. It was well-worth the $45. ($40 plus $5 tip. The driver was nice.)
Spicer-kitty did not react well to Kakashi. Lots of hissing, and I've never heard him hiss before. But then, I wasn't expecting him to run up and offer to play. Of course, that's what Kakashi does whenever I take him out of the bathroom. He's slowly winning Spicer over. Spicer is relaxing with every emergence of the kitten. I have hopes I can release Kakashi from protective quarantine in a week. *fingers crossed for good luck*
I've been giving Spicer-kitty lots of reassurance so he knows I love him, too. Kakashi is fascinated with Spicer's tail. He stalks it, and runs to pounce. Usually Spicer knows he's coming and can hiss him back, but every so often Kakashi manages to attack. You can imagine what happens. ^^;;;
I felt horribly guilty when I let Kakashi out this morning. He found my large closet door/mirror while he was exploring and ran up and down it, meowing, trying to get the kitten inside to play with him. Oh, man. *guiiiiiiilt* You see, my parents took in Kakashi's brother at the same time, and we had them shut in the guest bathroom together, and let them out together to play in the rest of the house, and they wrestled and played chase and slept in an adorable pile together. (I have pics!) Now Kakashi is stuck with me and a grumpy adult cat. T.T For the record, my parents' kitten is named "Tractor", because they bought a tractor from Dr. H and were told "It comes with a free kitten!" Dr. H was joking, but my parents ended up taking her up on it. Heh!
I took today off work, and must resume Naruto 57 tomorrow. Tonight I am finishing up my first pic for the het bigbang. I could have sworn I blogged about it, but if I did I can't find it. I think I'll save the big explanation for when I actually post the art. In a nutshell: I'm drawing two pics for someone who is writing a crossover Buffy/Supernatural fic starring Buffy and Dean. I rather like how the first one has turned out! Here's hopin' the second is as good.
And now, back to work. Oh, and I do plan to post kitty pics! Just not tonight. :P
