Shigoto and IRL update!

Happy Valentines Day to everyone! And to those on my flist: I am glad you are all my friends. ^^ *virtual hugs for one and all!*

I have a new title! Welcome New Title 9, another one-shot, this time with a brand-new editor! I shall dub her "BE", for reasons you'll find out soon enough. I just did several searches at Amazon, B&N.com, and the official Viz site and can find no reference to relevant titles, so...I will remain vague for now. :B Sorry, guys!

This title is rather rushed. I'll be cranking out pages as fast as I can! I really like this one. I lucked out yet again--it could have been tiresome. Yay, it's not! The story is solid, the art is clean, the char designs very beautiful. It looks a lot like Saiun, only slightly less shoujo. Eyes are smaller, and no fantastic costumes. It's still very easy on the eyes! And it's also to be lettered in InDesign, like New Title 8. It looks like I still remember how to use the program. This is good! I'm glad my monthly subscription to the proggie isn't going to waste.

Amusingly enough, the book does not have one single page number. Not one, not even in the original Japanese version. That has never happened to me before, not in ~120 lettered books! One volume of Skip came close, but it still managed to have 3 or 4 page numbers. A milestone has been reached!

I decided to poke around Netflix and saw the BBC series, Sherlock 1st season, is available to stream. I've been watching it as I letter, which means I watch a couple minutes until the video starts to lag, then I pause and work until I reach a good stopping point, then back to Sherlock--rewinding a bit to rewatch the formerly lagging parts until it lags again after a couple more minutes. It works, and keeps me from watching too much at once. I'm wondering if I can use Shetan to stream, instead of Usagi, but I'm not sure what Netflix will think of a new streaming destination on this account. I need to read through their FAQ again. :P

I'm enjoying Sherlock! I had no desire to watch it until I went to see the 2nd Sherlock Holmes film in late December with a bunch of fellow slashers. After the movie, when I admitted I hadn't watched the BBC series from early 2011, they all stared at me in shock. I haven't astounded a group of people like that since high school! It was very amusing. :3

So yes, I'm enjoying the series. It's interesting seeing how they've adapted the classic series into the modern world. The actor who plays Sherlock is very...distinctive in the face. He does have amazingly pale eyes. I've never seen the like before. But the real kicker is his voice. Holy voiced velvet, Batman! O.o I could listen to that man talk for hours and not become accustomed! *swoon*

Progress is slow for my watching, due to the aforementioned method. I'm just barely into the second ep. No spoilers, please! ^^

I bought myself a subscription to Shonen Jump Alpha, rather than pester my editors to see if a comp version would be available for letterers. None of them mentioned it, and I decided to just be a responsible normal manga fan and buy my own. The thing is...I haven't read any issues yet. I've been reading Viz's releases of the series I'm interested in, and even fallen behind those, so of course SJA is way ahead of me. ^^;; I've decided to do my homework and read all the missing chapters before picking up with SJA.

Bleach is my first title to play catch-up with. I'm "only" about 70 chapters behind now. *laughs* I'd like to avoid any spoilers for Bleach as well, and certainly avoid giving them out myself. Highlight for spoilers up to chapter 401: So...everything that has happened in Bleach, Ichigo's entire life, and 100+ years before it...has all been one massive Xanatos Gambit by Aizen???? No wonder that well-known fandom Bleach Captains icon calls him "Captain God"! He's so uber-powerful, it's really irritating. I have to wonder, if he does die at the end of this Arrancar arc, who or what will replace him?? No, don't tell me, I don't want to know. X| I miss Grimmjow...and fear for what happened to him. I might be writing fix-it fic in the near future, if my worries come true. :/

Book Club is tonight. I read this month's selection over a month ago, thanks to the library holds system. I hope I remember enough to contribute to the discussion. There isn't really much to talk about in this book. It was a fun, light read. I DO like the advanced health science available in the world, though. It would be nice to live for 300 years...just imagine everything I could DO! The art I could create, and the stories I could tell! *has shining eyes* If anyone is wondering, the book in question is Player of Games, by Iain Banks. My favorite character was an ancient AI in a supporting role. TBH, the two leads were rather unlikable, even in an "I love to hate you" sort of way. :P The game and its influence over the alien culture that plays such a huge role in the book is also very interesting, and almost a character itself. I wish we could watch the game IRL. That must be really something!

Enough from me! I have time for at least one more page of New Title 9 before I wander off to Book Club. ^^
