Dear Yuletide author,
OMG, isn't Yuletide incredibly fun?! XD This is my fourth year, and I am so very happy to be in the exchange again. I am looking forward to your fic SO VERY MUCH. Thank you for signing up and offering at least one of my little fandoms. I'm so happy!!!!!
And now, the actually useful info for you. *laughs* (Sarai-ya Goyou and Seiyu-ka sections tweaked Oct 19th)
I love a fic with strong emotions and character development, and I consider a gripping plot to be icing on the cake. I really like to see inside a character's mind and understand why they do what they do. I tend to like plotty fics, particularly suspense or mystery, but a strong narrative story of any kind or length pleases me. I'm not very interested in fluff, slice-of-life, or holiday fic--unless it has some character nuance or intriguing plot that makes it fresh.
I like both dark and happy fic. It comes down to the power of the story being told, no matter how it ends. If a fic makes me cry in agony or joy, that means it's good. XD
Romance or gen: Both! For romance, I enjoy lots of UST. I'm a fan of slash/BL, het, femmeslash/yuri, and threesomes and more. It's all about the characters involved! I can take or leave graphic sex, it's the foreplay and interaction I enjoy. In gen, I love watching characters learn to trust each other and seeing that trust in action. Knowing they can depend on someone--even if they can't stand that person--makes me smile. With either romance or gen, I enjoy watching a character realize they are welcomed, be it welcomed by close friends, lover(s!), or new family. Found family always gets me. Always.
Kinks: If you want to try hitting one of my kinks, great! They are simple, if a bit odd. Sleeping together (as in actual sleep), seductive eyeglasses removal by a lover or friend of the glasses-wearer, and hair brushing also by the lover or friend. I know, they're rather tame. And they're all actions of trust, too, which kind of matches the whole belonging thing I mentioned above. Whatever the reasons behind them, seeing those things in fic with my favorite characters makes me very happy.
Squicks, triggers, and DNWs: I am almost impossible to squick or trigger; no need to worry about it. I don't like or enjoy the horrible things people can do to each other, but they can be part of a good story. Please no rimming or sexual use of body waste.
Original characters are fine by me, as long as they contribute to the story. Any POV works, even second person or reader insert! Present and past tense are both just dandy! To sum up this paragraph: you can write however is best for you and your story, and I will have no complaints. It's all good!
Crossovers and AUs: I love a good crossover or AU! I admire an author who can change the setting or make a timeline tweak and still keep everyone in-character. I'm not sure how you could manage a crossover within my requested Yuletide fandoms, but any fandom for which I have fic on my recs page (linked right below here) is game. If you have any doubts, feel free to use the official Yuletide go-betweens to ask me first.

Claymore: (Isley), I have read the manga through volume 26/chapter 149. The reason I enjoy Claymore can be summed up in one word: characters. This action manga is completely character-driven, and I love it! The world-building unfortunately takes a back seat to long and intricate fight scenes, which leaves canon just ripe for fanfic exploration. :3 Not to mention all the unknowns about the characters themselves! Speaking of, Isley is one of my faves. He's an Awakened Being, yet he has self-control and a sense of honor. He's a great military commander, and his Awakened form is a CENTAUR!!! The new background info we learned in the first chapter of vol 24, #132, just made him even better.
Spoilers through vol25 follow! I have lots of Isley fic suggestions for you!! :D You could tell me more about his past. What was his first awakening like? How about his even earlier days as an Organization warrior? Was he friends/comrades with Rig back then? Was he a willing recruit for the Organization, or was it forced like it is for the present-day female warriors? If backstory isn't your thing, then perhaps he survives the feeders that ate him alive in canon. (That was not a happy day for me...oh no.) How could his survival affect the massive resurrected single-digit-warriors fight scenes in the recent volumes? What would he do about the Clare-Priscilla blob? What would he think of Clare, if he met her--uh--unblobbed? Does he join forces with Miria and company to destroy the Organization? Or how about some missing canon scenes? You could expand upon his relationship with Raki and Priscilla. Perhaps another sword-tutoring session? How about the day when Isley left them? Was it just to avoid the feeders? Oh, and as of this letter's writing, there is NO English Isley fic yet on AO3. You could be the first! I mean, canon has said so little about him, I want moarrrr!
Mrs. Todd's Shortcut - Stephen King: (Ophelia Todd, Homer Buckland) I love the adventure and hopefulness of this canon. Ophelia's determination to find the shortest route possible between Castle Rock and Bangor is fun, and I feel a connection with her, because I love finding obscure back routes, too! Her determination to keep going on her shortcuts because she recognizes her true self when she's driving them--and she loves herself that way--is inspiring to me. And I particularly adore that at the end of the fic, Homer goes with her. It seems characters never chose to leave home and go off to adventure for good, yet in this fic, they do it! THANK YOU!
For some fic ideas...how is it that Ophelia even manages to find those supernatural roads? Is it something about her personality? Or her car? Did she learn of it from her father, who taught her to use shortcuts? Or is it just that she keeps trying all those unknown logging roads and stumbles upon them? Do the roads appear on her map--perhaps AFTER she finds them? How are they depicted when they fold space? Why does she forget--or perhaps willfully ignore--the stranger aspects of her journey, like grabby trees and bizarre creatures? Is it because of a specific event? Would acknowledging something is weird make the roads no longer work, and she knows this from previous experience? What does her husband think of her shortcut obsession? Homer told David her husband "didn't care piss-all", but was that the truth? If not, why would Homer lie about it? And then the really big one: just what happens with her and Homer after canon ends? Perhaps you could tell me about their first adventure. Does Homer de-age and become some sort of wild fae ruler, like Ophela? If they return to Castle Rock, what do David (the short story narrator) or the rest of the townsfolk think? I'm just full of all sorts of questions about this fandom! So many intriguing possibilities...
This story is in the 1985 Stephen King short story collection Skeleton Crew. Those of you know know Mr. King's works well will recognize this early foray into his Dark Tower series' todash space. It's been suggested that these are the same paths Father Callahan used to pass into the AU-America for Wolves of the Calla. I wouldn't object to a Dark Tower crossover at all, just please keep the focus on Ophelia and Homer. C:
終わりのセラフ | Owari no Seraph | Seraph of the End: (Hyakuya Yuichiro, Hyakuya Mikaela, Ferid Bathory, Kimizuki Shiho) I have read through the most recent chapter. I have not read the Guren prequel novels, so don't feel you must include them in your canon knowledge just for my fic. ^^ Mmmmm, bishounen vampires, close male friendships that have no need for slash goggles because it's JUST SO OBVIOUS, canon BL appreciation, a beautiful creeper villain you can love to hate, complicated political uber-plotting yet to be fully revealed, and a vast post-apocalyptic setting just ripe for world building. What more could a ficcer want? :9
Spoilers through vol6 follow! I'd be delighted for any fic for Seraph. Seriously! There's so much to explore in this world, anything with my requested characters would make my day. (Speaking of, Ferid and Kimizuki are both "or" characters. I'm okay if one or the other doesn't work in your fic.) Here are some suggestions that might start a bunny for you: What if Mika's rescue of Yu in volume 4 had been successful, and Yu hadn't gone all batshit-Seraphim? What if Mika hadn't been able to stop Yu from being turned into a vampire during that same scene? Would Mika then want to be fully turned? What if Mika had drunk from him? (Sexy blood drinking! *swoon*) What if Yu HAD been turned, and then Guren and company rescued him back? What kind of political fallout would arise from the Imperial Demon Army suddenly having a vampire in their ranks--either Mika or a turned Yu? And what would either do about their need for blood? (Would Shinoa Squad willingly donate?? *swoons again*) And just what kind of political shenanigans is Guren up to? What about his experiments on Yu and company? For that matter, what is Ferid up to with his own machinations--and what inspired his frilly fashion sense?
If you're more for single scenes than plot, then how about another round of hilarious BL-roleplaying from Shinoa and Mitsu? Or Yu and Kimizuki growing closer, either bromancy OR romantically? Would Mika be all jealous of Yu's newboyfriends family? And maybe Yoichi is in there, too? Perhaps you could write the classic anime trope of the onsen/hot spring episode--with needlessly detailed descriptions of soaking-wet bishounen shenanigans? *cough*
There are NO fics for Seraph yet at AO3 yet--OR FF.net!--and there's an anime coming next year! You could get in on the ground floor... *eyebrow waggle*

Rock of Ages (2012): (Stacee Jaxx) This film is funny, encouraging, full of great rock songs, and has attractive people singing their hearts out. XD I enjoyed every character in the movie, but Stacee Jaxx is my favorite. Not only can he sing (who knew Tom Cruise had it in him??), but even as super-famous and strung out as he can be, in the end he came through for his longtime friend, Dennis, and The Bourbon Room. That kind of loyalty strikes a chord in me. (Heh! But seriously, it does.)
If you will indulge me for a moment: I have this strange headcanon about Stacee. You know how four times in the film, he places his hand on someone's chest to feel their heart? (DVD timestamps: Dennis at 40:30, Sherrie at 50:45, Gill at 1:33:15, Patricia at 1:45:35) What if it isn't him being full of himself or just drunk/stoned out of his mind--what if he really CAN feel a person's true nature that way?? (There IS that guitar riff in the background every time!) Is that what drives him to the alcohol and drugs, to deal with the emotion-sensory overload? Could this ability be what makes him so magnetic and captivating to people--and why women can pass out when they're in close proximity? Could his music help him deal with everything, and the overwhelming response slowly drove him to what he is at the beginning of the film: a jaded over-sexed over-drugged drunk rock god?
But don't panic if my supernatural headcanon is too out there for you. (Perfectly understandable!) Perhaps you could tell me about his early career and his struggles to stardom. Where did his stage name come from? I'd love to see how he became so famous! Maybe tell of a past lover who helped him get started--and feel free to make him bi! :3 Did his mother force him to learn something classical, like the piano or violin? Or maybe he WANTED to play or sing something more traditional, but hard rock was the only genre that he was good at/cooperated/let him fully express himself. Or you could tell me what happens in the aftermath of the film. How does Stacee handle the change to absorbing Van Colt into his new Arsenal band? And sharing the stage with Drew and Sherrie? Despite my not mentioning her, I like Constance, and don't begrudge her and Stacee's romance at all. After all, she helped him regain his feet and rediscover his professionalism, a fact which made me really fall for the character! If she works with your plot, feel free to include her. C: And because I love the music and it might help, here's a link to the soundtrack on Youtube. Sarai-ya Goyou | House of 5 Leaves: (Akitsu Masanosuke, Yaichi, Yagi Heizaemon), I have read the entire manga and watched the anime. The characters and Masa's slow acceptance into the close-knit group of friends is what made me fall in love with this manga. I especially like Masa's changing relationship with Ichi.
Spoilers for the entire series follow! Any fic you can write exploring any stage of Masa and Yaichi's relationship would be amazing. They could become lovers, or remain close friends, or even become all-but-brothers. As mentioned above, I ADORE found family, and this fandom is a perfect example. When Masa realizes he belongs, it always touches me. (Even as he kind of winces at the whole criminal aspect.) Explore this juxtaposition all you like! If you'd rather a less serious angle, perhaps you could do a comedy and embarrass Masa in a compromising situation with Otake, or one of the Katsuraya prostitutes while he was working there. Or Ichi! (Masa's shyness is so very adorable! I love to see him blush!) Something set later in manga canon, when Ichi was avoiding Masa, could be very powerful. Or you could even do a modern AU. The thought of Ichi running his crew with all the technological advances available today makes me kind of scared, actually. Would he just stick to kidnapping? Oh my! (I love the image of Masa and Ichi in suits. Rowr!) I'd also like to see a story with Masa holding his own, taking a good step towards increased self-confidence. Perhaps you could write about what happens to the group after canon, their meeting again in or on the way to the West. Yagi grew on me the more I read. His intelligence and good nature, even as he teases Masa just a bit. ^^ Also his verbal sparring with Yaichi! Oh my! I do love verbal chess. :3 Yagi is an "or" character. If he won't fit with your bunny, it's all good.
声優かっ! | Seiyu-ka! | Voice Over! Seiyu Academy: (Kino Hime, Haruyama Mizuki) I have read the manga through volume 10. Please no spoilers for the final two volumes in your fic! C: I love this canon because it's so much FUN. Hime's cute voice disasters, her learning to use her voice in a way better suited to her talents, the cross-dressing adventure when she's being Shiro, canon BL fun times...it's all a complete blast! XD
Even more spoilers for you for through vol7 commence! Not even gonna lie, I ship Hime/Mizuki-sempai like burning. I adore how he takes care of his kouhai and is protective of her, and really does love her. His jealousy over Hime and Senri's friendship in vol9 made me squee! I know, Hime is young and not thinking of romance at the moment. You could progress them along in their careers a few years, to let her mature a bit more. Perhaps show her realizing his feelings? And how would she deal with Senri, too? What about her professional role as Shiro the male seiyuu? Is there a scandal about the Mizuki/Shiro IRL BL romance?? Does a reporter find out about the Mizuki-Senri rivalry over the adorably little uke-Shiro?? How do the fans react--lots of doujinshi, perhaps?? XD And what about poor, overlooked Fujimori's crush on Shiro? If you just can't ship Hime and Mizuki, then I'd love some gen sempai and kouhai bromance. Perhaps Mizuki helps Hime with another tricky role, or she goes with him to a shoot or filming--perhaps as herself! ONOES, Mizuki has a cute little girlfriend! The paparazzi would go crazy! XD The BL drama CD was my favorite arc so far--give me more!! This is my only fandom with a definite do not want request: no non-con, please! m(_)m As a side note, there is NO fic for Seiyu-ka at AO3 yet. You could be first! :D

XD I enjoyed every character in the movie, but Stacee Jaxx is my favorite. Not only can he sing (who knew Tom Cruise had it in him??), but even as super-famous and strung out as he can be, in the end he came through for his longtime friend, Dennis, and The Bourbon Room. That kind of loyalty strikes a chord in me. (Heh! But seriously, it does.)
If you will indulge me for a moment: I have this strange headcanon about Stacee. You know how four times in the film, he places his hand on someone's chest to feel their heart? (DVD timestamps: Dennis at 40:30, Sherrie at 50:45, Gill at 1:33:15, Patricia at 1:45:35) What if it isn't him being full of himself or just drunk/stoned out of his mind--what if he really CAN feel a person's true nature that way?? (There IS that guitar riff in the background every time!) Is that what drives him to the alcohol and drugs, to deal with the emotion-sensory overload? Could this ability be what makes him so magnetic and captivating to people--and why women can pass out when they're in close proximity? Could his music help him deal with everything, and the overwhelming response slowly drove him to what he is at the beginning of the film: a jaded over-sexed over-drugged drunk rock god?
But don't panic if my supernatural headcanon is too out there for you. (Perfectly understandable!) Perhaps you could tell me about his early career and his struggles to stardom. Where did his stage name come from? I'd love to see how he became so famous! Maybe tell of a past lover who helped him get started--and feel free to make him bi! :3 Did his mother force him to learn something classical, like the piano or violin? Or maybe he WANTED to play or sing something more traditional, but hard rock was the only genre that he was good at/cooperated/let him fully express himself. Or you could tell me what happens in the aftermath of the film. How does Stacee handle the change to absorbing Van Colt into his new Arsenal band? And sharing the stage with Drew and Sherrie? Despite my not mentioning her, I like Constance, and don't begrudge her and Stacee's romance at all. After all, she helped him regain his feet and rediscover his professionalism, a fact which made me really fall for the character! If she works with your plot, feel free to include her. Sarai-ya Goyou | House of 5 Leaves: (Akitsu Masanosuke, Yaichi, Yagi Heizaemon), I have read the entire manga and watched the anime. The characters and Masa's slow acceptance into the close-knit group of friends is what made me fall in love with this manga. I especially like Masa's changing relationship with Ichi.
Spoilers for the entire series follow! Any fic you can write exploring any stage of Masa and Yaichi's relationship would be amazing. They could become lovers, or remain close friends, or even become all-but-brothers. As mentioned above, I ADORE found family, and this fandom is a perfect example. When Masa realizes he belongs, it always touches me. (Even as he kind of winces at the whole criminal aspect.) Explore this juxtaposition all you like! If you'd rather a less serious angle, perhaps you could do a comedy and embarrass Masa in a compromising situation with Otake, or one of the Katsuraya prostitutes while he was working there. Or Ichi! (Masa's shyness is so very adorable! I love to see him blush!) Something set later in manga canon, when Ichi was avoiding Masa, could be very powerful. Or you could even do a modern AU. The thought of Ichi running his crew with all the technological advances available today makes me kind of scared, actually. Would he just stick to kidnapping? Oh my! (I love the image of Masa and Ichi in suits. Rowr!) I'd also like to see a story with Masa holding his own, taking a good step towards increased self-confidence. Perhaps you could write about what happens to the group after canon, their meeting again in or on the way to the West. Yagi grew on me the more I read. His intelligence and good nature, even as he teases Masa just a bit. ^^ Also his verbal sparring with Yaichi! Oh my! I do love verbal chess. :3 Yagi is an "or" character. If he won't fit with your bunny, it's all good.
声優かっ! | Seiyu-ka! | Voice Over! Seiyu Academy: (Kino Hime, Haruyama Mizuki) I have read the manga through volume 10. Please no spoilers for the final two volumes in your fic! C: I love this canon because it's so much FUN. Hime's cute voice disasters, her learning to use her voice in a way better suited to her talents, the cross-dressing adventure when she's being Shiro, canon BL fun times...it's all a complete blast! XD
Even more spoilers for you for through vol7 commence! Not even gonna lie, I ship Hime/Mizuki-sempai like burning. I adore how he takes care of his kouhai and is protective of her, and really does love her. His jealousy over Hime and Senri's friendship in vol9 made me squee! I know, Hime is young and not thinking of romance at the moment. You could progress them along in their careers a few years, to let her mature a bit more. Perhaps show her realizing his feelings? And how would she deal with Senri, too? What about her professional role as Shiro the male seiyuu? Is there a scandal about the Mizuki/Shiro IRL BL romance?? Does a reporter find out about the Mizuki-Senri rivalry over the adorably little uke-Shiro?? How do the fans react--lots of doujinshi, perhaps?? XD And what about poor, overlooked Fujimori's crush on Shiro? If you just can't ship Hime and Mizuki, then I'd love some gen sempai and kouhai bromance. Perhaps Mizuki helps Hime with another tricky role, or she goes with him to a shoot or filming--perhaps as herself! ONOES, Mizuki has a cute little girlfriend! The paparazzi would go crazy! XD The BL drama CD was my favorite arc so far--give me more!! This is my only fandom with a definite do not want request: no non-con, please! m(_)m As a side note, there is NO fic for Seiyu-ka at AO3 yet. You could be first! :D
