slr2moons: a self-portrait, of me in my usual habitat: in front of my computer monitors! (pout)

a shigoto update

Yes, I changed my journal layout again. The ginko leaves were pretty, but for some reason the date and timestamp on my entries wouldn't remain displayed, so I found this pretty minty thing instead. Wheee!

As promised, a shigoto update.

Alas, my mini-break is over. The tiffs (meaning the individual page images in their original Japanese language) finally arrived for Honey volume 5, which means I'm back to four simultaneous titles again. T.T And I'm suddenly stressed about it, but only b/c I haven't really put it into the proper perspective. (Plus points for alliteration.)

At the moment:

Clay vol 12 - Story-wise, this is the beginning of the 2nd overall arc in the series. I should begin lettering sometime in November. Provided the translator keeps to his own schedule to finish on time, which I know from experience can be rather...ah...iffy.

Honey vol 5 - is about to begin today. In fact, I should be working on it now, but here I am updating my blog. The 2nd page is a pink Page from Hell. Great way to begin a volume, no?? :P Highlight for vague spoilers: ( I really resent Mayama's bosses...they're so...extravagant.) You'll see what I mean in vol 4. *winces for professional reasons*

Nana vol 13 - I'm a few days away from finishing the first half. Even with the 7 month break from lettering Nana, we're still two years ahead of the NA graphic novel release, since Viz is waiting until Jan to release vol 7, which is when they would have released it if Nana still ran in Shojo Beat. For the record, I still want to slap everyone escept Yasu and Shin-chan. :P Oh, and Naoki. He's grown on me. Takumi The Rat Bastard can have Naoki's slap.

Naruto vol 32 - I completely lucked out with this volume. O.o Not only is it short(er) at 179 pages, but it only has two fight scenes. TWO. (Highlight for spoilers: Fight scene #1 is when Sai introduces himself to Naruto, Shikamaru, and Choji, and fight scene #2 is when Sai and Naruto battle their new cell leader, Yamato.) And since I've been lettering Naruto like mad to finish as much as possible before Honey vol 5 arrived and New Title 2 kicks in, I finished the fight scenes yesterday. HA! The difficult pages are done! All I have left now are lovley easy blue, green, and yellow pages. I also have a 160 page buffer, thanks to lettering two extra pages of Naruto a day since I began, and several times even more. *evil genius laughter* I am a professional! As a random note, I want to see a cosplayer--with the right body--in the new guy's outfit. On one page of the 2nd fight sequence, he's draw in this pose that made me blink. Not every man can pull off that particular shirt...*s2m gives him a thumbs up of approval for clothing choice*

New Title 2 - Still no script, so I haven't begun yet. Shoujo Editor #3 said she would try to get the script to me before Sept ended, thus I'm expecting it any day now. Since New Title 2 is a one-shot volume, I'm hoping I can ask for 9 weeks, instead of the usual shoujo 8. Particularly since this volume has some nasty action sequences of its own. This mangaka loves her gradient and patterend tones. My my my...(thank the manga no kami I figured out how to deal with these.)

Skip vol 13 - I'm about 10 pages in. This volume has a horrid comedy action sequence I've been dreading since I paged through the tanko many months ago. Ooog. I'll be spreading this scene out over many days to reduce the imact. O.o I've come to some interesting conclusions about Skip over the past several months, I've been meaning to blog about them. It's on the topic of Skip's appeal to NA manga readers. Hmmm....

That's it for now. Work calls...no more spare time for s2m. *sigh* It was so nice while it lasted...
