One uber-long shigoto update, coming up!

Claymore - I'm only 25 pages or so from the end of volume 12, with a week left to letter. Things are looking just fine, though I'm saving a nasty Page from Hell two page spread for last. T.T I suspect I'll be making some new extra-large sized versions of a few more FX letters, as I mentioned earlier. It was the background and resulting touch-up that first designated this spread as pink, and now the new letters will make it even worse. Maybe I DO need a "purple" page designation. Perhaps I could call it "Page from the Inner Circle of Hell" to mark the horror honor. Tonikaku, I'll have a short break from Clay once this volume is complete, as I won't be starting vol 13 until Spring. We're less than a year behind the Japanese release now. ^^V Probably as caught up as we'll get! As a side note, even though certain scenes are no longer taking place in the Frozen North, Yagi-sensei is still using his snow sprinkles. *blink blink* Maybe now they're small reflections of light sprinkles or something. Anyway, I'm not complaining, as I can still use them to disguise my touchup. Muwahahahaha! >:D

Honey and Clover - I'm 3/4ths of the way through vol 6. This volume marks the end of the run of easier Honey, as I mentioned in my freakout post earlier this month. The orange and pink pages in the 2nd half are every bit as bad as I knew they would be, and the translator's improvements are making my purist self sweatdrop. What else is new, though, right? I letter what the script says...though I do correct the occasional spelling error. Your/you're, there/their/they're, that type of thing. *waves hand* Story-wise, things are becoming more interesting. Someone has decided to do something about their stagnant life, so that perks me up. Even if the result is the main reason why this volume's key sheet has a LOT of orange and pink on later pages....I'm sure the key sheet for vol 7, which is even worse, will positively glow like a sunset. FUN. Oh yeah, and I still can't finish vol 5 b/c we're waiting for 4 omake pages that were missing from the original file batch from Japan. I wonder if I'll finish vol 6 before they arrive.

Nana - Today I began vol 14. Unlike vol 13, the original files are NOT crooked by anywhere from 10 to 14 degrees, so that saves me some pre-lettering time. But alas, I don't have the floating-test-free versions of the pages, which means all the pre-lettering time saved--plus a good dollop of extra--is lost to the usual background patching. This was the 2nd time I was able to use floating-test-free pages...the first being Naruto 21. Sure is nice....but oh well. I've flipped through this volume, and Takumi is only making his rat bastard status more evident. *snort* Stupid Hachi...but there are some interesting non-Rat Bastard plot wrinkles that could be really promising...but this is Nana, remember. Always expect the worst. Always. I suppose this is why the series is so powerful, things never don't always go the way you want them to. :P

Naruto - I'm waiting for 2nd and hopefully final set of corrections to arrive for vol 32. BTW, The Shippuuden anime passed the ending of this volume half-way through ep 39. I no longer know what's going to happen!! XD Oh, but this is a shigoto update post. Um...Script for vol 35 is promised to be here by Feb 15, so I have a month off from foxy boy, not counting corrections. The fanbook will be out shortly, though I already have my copy. ^^V The proto chapter I lettered a year ago is contained within!! I thought the unedited version would be preserved in the fanbook, but nope, someone changed their mind and went with a censored version. Minna, gomen. You cannot see Iroke no Jutsu in its original pure form. (It's only some extreme bikini fanservice anyway.) Though I still don't get why Kishimoto-sensei wanted Naruto in pure white underwear, rather than the funky black and white patterned bikini I originally expanded to cover more skin. *skritches back of head in confusion* Maybe it's the whole white-panties Japaense thing. Meh.

New Title 2 - I haven't heard a peep from Shoujo Editor #3 since I finished this vol back in Dec, so I guess no news is good news. Still no corrections, either. I'm not sure if the title's been announced yet or not. I saw it mentioned as part of the Shojo Beat library on a fan web page, but I couldn't find any official announcement anywhere. Maybe it will be in the Feb issue of SB? Who knows. It will be nice when I can use the actual title for once....

New Title 3 - I have script for the first chapter, and Shoujo Editor #4 wants to see a few sample pages in early Feb. I haven't made my key sheet yet, so I'm not sure how difficult it will be. Let us hope for a spring day (lots of yellow and green) instead of yet another sunset! This is an earlier series by this particular mangaka, so maybe she wasn't into the intricate tones at this stage of her career. ^^V

Skip Beat! - I'm 2/3rds of the way through vol 14. So...after spending 20 minutes flipping through my English Skip volumes, I now know what I will be reading during my breaks after I finish my current for-enjoyment manga series, Tramps Like Us. I've been wanting to reread Skip for some time, particularly since I haven't read my finished volumes straight-through since #3 was published. No, my rereading isn't because while flipping I rediscovered  fond memories...I was looking for something and couldn't find it. X| Skip pages are usually so busy that it can be very interesting trying to locate a specific panel if you don't remember exactly where it is. What I need is the 2nd version of Kyoko's Shotaro and Mr. Tsuruga revenge poster setup that she has inside her room, because a few pages of vol 14 are set in there, and guess what you can see in the background. T.T Those pages were early on in Skip, before it occurred to me that maybe I should save signs and posters and things in my shortcuts file for easy reference later...you know, to prevent this exact problem. The kicker is that I've had to find the posters before, 4 or 5 volumes back, and I STILL didn't save them to my shortcuts file. Ooog. Let the hunt begin!!! BTW, I can't finish vol 13 either, for the same reason Honey 5 is in limbo. Only with Skip, it's two pages we're waiting for. La la la... Oh, and as a random note, both Skip and Honey have Red Riding Hood-themed chapter title pages in these volumes. Hmmmm.

And next, we have...uh...we have...*checks her list* Oh. That's all my titles. :/ Huh. Okay....minna, be well!!
