Happy b-day to me and other assorted stuff
Catch up post yay!
My bday was Saturday. ^^ Many hugs and thanks to everyone who called and emailed to wish me well. ^^ As birthdays go, this one was rather anti-climatic. I was so relieved to have Utena's death resolved (more on this in a minute) and am scrambling to catch up with work that I didn't go out and do anything. Yes, you heard me. Do I regret it? No. Work is more important than playing on my actual bday. I can always relax once I've cleared this backlog.
Speaking of which, today is the first day since I moved that I was able to complete my 17 page daily quota. I hope I can do a page or two extra, as well. At least I'm caught up with the two shortest deadlines, namely Honey v9 and Nana v15. Yay.
Everyone, meet Isley. Isley, this is everyone. Isley is my new 500 gig external hard drive, who holds all the precious data from Utena. T.T I am very lucky that the professional geek was able to pull all my data off both Utena's hard drives. The final bill for computer diagnosis, data retrieval, and hard drive purchase was over $600. Whoooooooooo! But it was worth it. The final diagnosis for Utena was a blown power supply that took the motherboard with it. And it did something to one of the hard drives too, since apparently the drive asked to be formatted whenever the geek accessed it. Allow me to repeat myself: mina-san, back up your computers. And back them up OFTEN.My 200 gigs of anime shocked the geek. Heh,
None of my friends friends nor family were harmed in any way by Ike.
The Captive preview is in October's SB issue. We even made the cover!! XD It's another half-chapter preview, which seems to be the trend lately. With Wanted I can understand, since the next page after the preview ended would have been NAKED BOOBIES!! ONOES!!!LOL I can finally talk about actual content but not so with Captive. (Sorry guys, no boob shots in this one. :P) I guess they have so many new books lined up under the Shojo Beat label that they have to double up previews and cut chapters in half to make them all fit.
And a quick rant: WTH!! The new series in the mag, Honey Hunt, has STOLEN Skip's plot line!!! The main character is joining showbiz to get revenge on someone. That really irritates me!! HEY! Go think up your own plot twist, Aihara-sensei!! *is miffed on behalf of Skip and Nakamura-sensei* Grrrrrr. Honey Hunt went down a notch IMO when I saw that "twist". I'd have preferred it remain about a normal average girl with celebrity parents. That it ripped off my beloved Skip only makes it worse. *sniffs with disdain*
On a lighter note, I heard my neighbors to the north having sex a few nights ago. The rhythmic thumping lasted for 8 minutes. =D I thought it was hilarious and snickered through the whole thing while I kept an eye on the clock to time them. Otherwise, the soundproofing in my apartment is pretty good. ^^
I just finished listening to an awesome genfic book. "Water for Elephants", by Sara Gruen. A very good read!!
I found the local library on the way to the computer repair shop. It's a good 5 miles away. I"ll have to drive, bus, or bike. Once I have a bill or two delivered here as proof of address.
And finally...
It rained today, at last. A real, beautiful, cool, lovely rain. *happy sigh* THANK YOU, PORTLAND!!!!
