slr2moons: a self-portrait, of me in my usual habitat: in front of my computer monitors! (pout)

Blah is not good for me. >

I admit that yesterday continued my blah spree. I was rather dead all day, and today didn't start off much better. I'd hoped going to sleep an hour early last night would help, but no. I just laid (I know that isn't right, but I can't figure out what is) in bed, staring at the ceiling, while my mind kept writing the silly stories I amuse myself with while trying to fall asleep. Thus I was too tired to work, but too wired to sleep. >< Very frustrating. I finally fell asleep sometime around the usual hour, namely 4:30 or so. At least I tried to get some extra ZZZs.

I was bad--and blah--so I didn't run today. *hangs head in shame* All that fat will come back if I'm not more careful. *winces* And tomorrow I'm having Italian. :P

Now, my recent observations and opinions on Skip! I wrote quite a bit, so I'll save New title for later. No spoilers in this set! Oh yes, the daily manga report, too.

Skip v9 overview: I didn't think it would be possible to have a busier and more complicated Skip volume than 8, but 9 has achieved it. If the series complexity continues to increase exponentially like this, volume 16 or so will have no room for artwork. It will all be dialogue and FX. D: Thank the manga no kami I can do the grunt work pre-letter on Utena, to save actual time on Tsukushi.

Oh yeah, Skip v9 breakdown: Blue - 3, Green - 10, Yellow - 125, Orange - 36 but I expect several pages to be advanced to pink status once I actually begin lettering them, Pink/PFH - 11.

Skip's aforementioned increasing complexity has forced me to rethink my page-difficulty color classifications. Granted, each manga series has its own style of color coding. For example, a pink Nana page would be orange or even yellow in Skip or Clay. The color in question right now with Skip is Green. Green pages were formerly ones with text only for all my titles. No touch up required beyond pasting text. No sound effects, no retouching background around floating text or asides, simple text pasting only. However...now that Skip is more and more complex, the definition of "easy" pages is shifting to the more difficult side. I think from now on, Green pages in Skip will include one or two simple FX/touchup bits. This goes for New title as well. As mentioned in a previous post, New title can be rather complex, so text-only pages are extremely rare there as well.

And Skip is getting more and more yuri!! I don't mind in the slightest, as I'm open to any and all forms of love. Besides, I adore Kyoko and Moko. ^^ They have my best wishes for a happy future together!!! Of course, I realize this is wishful thinking, since it's obvious from vol 1 that Kyoko is either destined for Tsuruga-san or will somehow forgive Baka Shotarou. So yes, wishful thinking...but I do wonder what kind of fanfic and doujinshi are out there. *evil grin* I've never tried writing yuri myself, even in my head, but being female, I know how the female mind works. I wonder if I could pull it off? You'd be hard-pressed to find someone who knows these characters more than me!!! Heh. I'll add "Skip yuri" to my future fanfic list. It's 2nd, right behind my Samurai Champloo shounenai ideas. *^^* So where's the het romance, hmmm?? In my current fanfic, silly. Sort of. A bit of age difference problem there. But that's part of the appeal. ^^V

Pages completed yesterday: Clay 9.20 and 21; Nana 12.179 and 182; New 1.44, 46, and 49; Skip 9.32. Yes, only one page of Skip. I was foolish and tried to work on a pink Skip page early in the day, so it sucked all the energy out of me and ruined me for the rest of my work. X_x It was a flashback page, which deserves its own posting/rant. Oog. 6 pages short of my daily quota, sacrificing Clay (what else is new?) and Skip. But I still have a 34 page buffer in Skip, so I'm not worried. Annoyed, yes, but not worried. Bad me! ><

Oooohkay, I shall shut up now. Clay 9.28 is on Tsukushi's monitor, glaring at me most accusingly. Haiiiiiiiii!!!
