Disaster averted...for now. I think. Pwease?
Ahhhhh, nothing makes a morning like sitting down to get to work and discovering your computers have decided to revolt! Oh yes! *sips her tea with much reflection*
I poke around a bit on both computers to see what's going on and can't find anything amiss. I certainly didn't do anything to either machine between checking my email and getting ready to work! But then I recall that Tsukushi sometimes vanished from the network when I was still living with my parents. Tsukushi can still see and open files from Usagi, so it looks like she's reverted to her errant ways. Now, back then, Tsukushi would periodically vanish from the network without me doing anything. Sometimes she came back on her own, sometimes I managed to force it by mistake, sometimes my computer-savvy oneesan or father would mess with ISP and all that to bring her back. So CRAP, since neither of them are here in OR to fix her for me.
I reboot both machines, and Usagi decides to also revert back to her difficult ways and refuses to log in to my own wireless network, instead latching on to someone else's. I thought I'd fixed this with Verizon's connection proggie! I fire it up, it claims that thrice-cursed automatic connection proggie is still working, I fiddle and mess around, plug in Usagi with a cable to my router, use the Verizon proggie again, uninstall what I think is the evil connection proggie, try the Verizon proggie again, disable my Windows wireless connection wizard, and finally success! Usagi is connected to MY wireless connection!!! Fire up Photoshop--still no access to Tsukushi. *headdesk*
Resigned, I dig out my thumb drive and start transferring the pages I need onto it from Tsukushi. I plug the drive into Usagi, go to open the first page in Photoshop, and see in the list of folders----
"z:\fonts on slr2moonsnew (work computer)"
*GASP!!!* (I really did gasp.)
I open a My Computer window to make sure that folder isn't pointing to the fonts folder that's on my thumb drive, and no, it isn't. Back to photoshop, go to open a file again, and lo!!!!!!
All of Tsukushi's links are back!! *tears of joy* None of them have my renamed filenames, "Tsukushi" instead of "slr2moonsnew (work computer)", but I AM NOT COMPLAINING.
I'm not sure why Tsukushi decided to share herself on the network again. I don't know if it had something to do with my thumb drive forcing Usagi to take a closer look at the possible drives, or what. All I know is Usagi can once again access Tsukushi, she's still connected to my own wireless router, and I hope like hell both girls decide to cooperate for a very very VERY long time.
How was YOUR morning??
