Dear Yuletide author '24...

Hello, my wonderful writer! I haven't participated in Yuletide since 2017, but I am so excited to be back. I see things have changed somewhat, but the core is the same! And that's to write a fic for a tiny fandom of your heart, and hopefully receive one, too. C:

My general likes: A character-driven story that makes me feel something. Love, laughter, anger, frustration, warm-fuzzies, an emotional punch to the gut! Yes, I enjoy dark!fic too, though I do ask if you go this route, please give a hopeful ending.

AO3 pen name: slr2moons
Treats are enabled! C:

Tropes I enjoy:

time travel

found family

soulmates

making friends

competence

bedsharing

the end of touch starvation

frenemies

fun AUs like space pirates or daemons or the world is suddenly always in a musical

DNW and Tropes I don't enjoy:

holiday fic (unless it has a plot)

kid!fic

head!canons I don't specifically ask for, like making a character trans or deaf

soapboxing/lecturing on an issue

non-canon ships I don't request

humiliation

the standard set of out-there nopes in fic: bodily fluids, vore, incest, torturing animals, etc

non-con or dub-con being portrayed as a positive thing

focus on worldbuilding without any or minimal characters. Please give me my characters!

On graphic sex: I am actually an asexual, so bland sex scenes make me do a puppy head tilt. It's the emotional connection in them that I enjoy! Be it love or hate, show me how much the encounter means to our characters and I will absolutely melt. C: By all means, include the sexy tiems if you want, just give me that emotional punch and I will be 100% on board.

On gen fic: yes please! I love a good gen fic! Companionship is awesome, and I love to see characters living their best friendship and adventure and dramatic lives!

If you have any questions, do please ask the mods to ask me, or leave a comment on this post. You don't need to stress in uncertainty! I hope you love writing for me. <3

And now, my fandom specifics! In alphabetical order. *winky face*

青のフラッグ | Ao no Flag | Blue Flag (Manga)
Characters: Mita Touma, Ichinose Taichi

Please tell me the story of how Touma and Taichi become romantic. The manga's final chapter was glorious, but I'd love to see how the two of them ended up together. Or how Taichi came around to thinking of Touma as more than his friend. When did Touma decide he loved Taichi as more than a friend? Their first kiss? Their first date? Please give me your idea of how it happens! If you don't ship them romantically, then a sweet friendship story would be lovely. Maybe when they were kids, or expanding on when they first met, or maybe hanging out together as ex-friends who want to rekindle their friendship. Honestly, please give me a story about these two somehow, someway, somewhere! AUs are welcome, but please make the focus on their relationship.

Fandom specific DNW: no other ships with these two. Please show them together or single. One or both having an ex is okay, but don't focus on that past relationship please.

DNW exception: a fic set when both guys are kids is great, but please no adopting-a-kid or mpreg or them parenting stories.

巨乳好きなのにＢＬ界に転生しました | I Got Reincarnated in a (BL) World of Big (Man) Boobs (Manga)
Characters: The Title God, Onizuka Ryuji, Otokawa Nagare, Sakura Haruko

I heard about this manga online when I saw some panels from it and instantly became hooked. I pounced on vol 1 the moment it was released in NA, devoured it while howling with laughter, then immediately read it a second time right after, and a third time about a week later. I love how irreverent the manga is, how the story plays up the BL tropes and has so much fun with them, and the Title God's persistence in making the ship happen. If you love writing crack and comedy, then this is the fandom for you!!

The Title God is my favorite character. I'd love a tale of another of his attempts to make the Otokawa/Onizuka ship happen. As of vol 2, we have yet to have an onsen storyline! Or a birthday for one of the guys! Or put your own spin on more crossdressing, a themed cafe, going skating, or any typical manga date ideas! LOL

If gen stories are your thing, then consider walking me through Otokawa's awakening as an isekai'd otaku in a bishounen body. How did he react when he saw himself in the mirror? What is his isekai'd home life like? Does he go back to his previous otaku life, and what happens then? Does Onizuka follow him back to our non-BL world, and what does he think of everything?

I do enjoy how Otokawa makes no pretense about his love of big boobs and using his wonderful new face and body in their pursuit. He admits he's a jerk, with the occasional soft side that comes out, despite his determination to remain focused on his boobs goal. Deep down he is a good person, he's just a teenage guy who IS obsessed with boobs!

Sakura's devoted fujoshi self is a source of delight for me. Do keep her around!

And sweet Onizuka. The manga hides his face so often when Otokawa shows some affection. Please show his POV! What were his thoughts when Otokawa "rescued" him from the falling glass in chapter one? His inner uke is adorable, and my favorite moments are when he's blushing so cutely and overwhelmed by Otokawa's seme force. That kiss in the fake wedding storyline--tell me more!! Does he deliberately dress to entice Otokawa with his gloriously plump man-boobs? Is he secretly crocheting a gift plushie for Otokawa? Go crazy!

My ideas above are mostly comedy, but I would welcome a serious or dark story, too. If you include non- or dub-con, please remember my DNW and make it NOT a good thing, and keep a happy or hopeful ending.

Fandom-specific DNWs: the hamster. He can be mentioned, but please don't focus on him. Also, please don't Flanderize Otokawa.

Temeraire (Naomi Novik)
Character: Iskierka

Iskierka became my favorite character from the entire series about five minutes after she hatched. I love her diva nature, her drive for prizes and profit, and how devoted she is to Granby. Okay, yes, she tried to marry his gay self off to a completely foreign Empress, but just think of all that GOLD he'd have now if it had worked!!!

What does she do, after canon? Does she try to marry Granby off again, this time to a random prince or rich nobleman? Perhaps she starts her own fancy cow breeding business, after stealing some Kobe Beef heifers from Japan! Or maybe she has a new adventure on her way to join Temeraire in Australia, or on one of her other off-page journeys we don't see. Maybe she ends up with a sad rowboat as a prize, and finagles it up to a massive fortune??

On a more serious vein, what about her future Captain, after Granby is gone? Does she pick Granby's future consort, so she can have the best odds for a good Captain? How does she talk him into it, or maybe it's his idea? Or does she go full rebel, leave the service, and do her own thing? Go pirate, maybe?

Please give me a story of Iskierka living her best life. Ideally with lots of gold and jewels, and being the splendid diva she is!

Fandom-specific DNWs: Don't focus on Napoleon, and especially don't ship him with Laurence or Granby.

DNW exceptions: Given how dragons eat, Iskeirka nomming on a cow or other NON-HORSE animal for dinner is fine, just please don't linger on the animal's suffering. But no horses, even if it is canon! Please! Also, kid!fic here would be welcome if it's about one of Iskeirka's potential eggs, or finding a successor to Granby. Writing about Granby's interludes with an OC or canon woman for the sake of that successor is all right, though not too much focus on awkward het sex for the poor gay man. :C

---

Thank you so much for writing for me, and I hope your Yuletide is wonderful in every way! :D

comments

Jurassic World: Dominion, hell yeah!

Monday afternoon, I went to the matinee showing of Jurassic Word: Dominion, which is the 6th and final (gap!) installment of the Jurassic Park franchise. I've seen every JP film in the theater, including the original film on opening weekend. I was 16, and the old hometown theater on the own square had rented a spotlight for the event. They showed the movie on the single theater to the right of the lobby, the one with the most advanced sound system and the fancy running lights down the center aisle. Jurassic Park was incredible, and became a family favorite of ours to watch. 🤩

( Spoilers )

comments

How much high school math do you actually use in your adult life?

Of all the higher math I learned in high school (and there was a lot of it. All the way through Calculus BC) the one formula I have used the most in my adult life, by far, is calculating ratios.

Tonight I used it to find how many pixels "2 points" is at 300 dpi. Points are the classic measurement for font size from the printing industry, still in use today. But all the conversion charts and conversion sites gave the answer in 72 dpi, which is what a digital screen displays. To find the answer at 300 dpi, I had to set up a ratio and solve for X:

2.67 pixels (2 points at 72 dpi) / 72 dpi = x / 300 dpi

Wheee! The answer is 11.125 pixels. I needed this information for my next T-shirt design, which is coming along. And if my answer is wrong, do please LMK. I need the right info...

I suppose 2nd place in higher math usage IRL would be calculating cubed space. Although once, ages ago, I had to remind my father (electrical engineer) and maternal uncle (aircraft designer) about the Pythagorean Theorem when they were trying to figure out the measurements for a corner shelf in my dad's home office. NGL, I had a bit of fun at their expense. XD

comments

Acrylics set #1

Here is my first set of acrylic nails, which I applied myself--to my left hand only, for obvious reasons--on January 29th. (Yes, I'm only just now posting the pic. We all know I procrastinate. :P)

They are very much a first set, but as first sets go, not that bad, I think? Each nail is painted a different shade of blue, all with the same confetti polish over top. If you're interested in polish names, LMK.

I'm currently wearing acrylics set #4.5. More pics will be coming!! Hopefully not 5 months after the fact. XD

Also: I found a stolen Amazon package tossed over the fence into my complex's trash and recycle bin area. The contents and address label were intact, so I messaged the man over Facebook. I wonder if he'll reply? You'll know more when I do!

( Nail art below cut! )

comments

Covid vaccine #1 is done! :D

Received my first Covid vaccination this past weekend, Pfizer version. To celebrate, here is a fantastic Covid parody song to the tune of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.
Nail art! Again! (from back in December...)

Better late than never! Here is my latest natural nail mani, from early December '20. I used the jelly sandwich method to give depth to the lower snowflakes. With this method, you paint over the art you want to appear less clearly using a transparent polish--known as a jelly polish. Then you paint the next layer of art on top of the dried jelly layer. Continue until you're satisfied!

Polish used, right hand: base is Sally Hansen gel polish "wine not", jelly polish is Essie "Knotty or Nice", white base and art is OPI polish "Alpine Snow", green art: see left hand.
Polish used, left hand: base is OPI polish "AmazON, AmazOFF", jelly polish is Pacifica "Mermaid", white art and red art is same as right hand.

( Nail art below cut! )

comments

Halloween was a bust, and Yuletide '20

I had a freshly opened bag of Wether's Original butterscotch hard candy open, and a salad serving spoon, and my mask all ready for trick-or-treaters, but didn't have a single one. T.T I've lived in my condo now for 5 Halloweens, and only once have I had trick-or-treaters. I did a little dance of joy after their visit, two years ago now. I guess living in an industrial area on 3 sides doesn't lend itself to trick-or-treaters, especially when there are well-established neighborhoods a short drive away. I did hear kids' voices later that night, and ran to the front door to look for them through the peephole, but it was my neighbors across the hall coming home, with bags of candy. They went inside.

Yes, I am disappointed. Oh well. I'm glad I bought candy that *I* like, at least. Since now I'll be eating all of it. Should last me until well into the new year.

In lighter news, this year I did not sign up for the Yuletide fanfic exchange, once again. But I am writing at least one treat for someone. (A "treat" in fanfiction exchange terms is a story you write for someone without drawing their name out of the virtual Santa hat as your secret recipient. It is completely voluntary.) If I finish the story in time for Christmas Day, great! If I'm late, no worries, I can post the finished story later and no one will be disappointed. Very low-pressure.

Have chosen the fandom, which I feel fine sharing here, as I'm not an official Yuletide participant the the odds of my upcoming treat's recipient seeing this are pretty much zero. It is for <i>Given</i>, one of the manga series I have lettered. A love story among the members of a four-man band. Two couples. :3 It's really well written and drawn, with excellent characterization. I am fortunate to have been able to work on this series, I must say. I ended up needing help to finish vol 3, and I gave vol 4 up entirely to a pinch-hitter because my work load at the time was exceedingly heavy, but I still count it as my series. Vols 1-4 are out now, and vol 5 should be arriving shortly. There is a vol 6 in Japan, but no word yet if it will be released here. I do hope it if is, I can letter it. The anime IS out on Crunchyroll, if you'd like to watch it. Here is a link to their first song performance, a very powerful and raw love song: Mafuyu's Song.

I am still reviewing the manga, and will be watching the anime after. I hope I can write a wonderful story for the recipient to enjoy, and many other fans of the series, as well!! Everyone, wish me luck. C:

Does anyone know if Zoom write-ins are a thing? Please LMK!

comments

Nail art! It is a thing, and I really like it. :3

Some of you already know, but for the past two years, I've been enjoying nail art. Both admiring of others' works, and making my own!

When I was a kid, I wanted pretty pink nails. But unfortunately, my nails are genetically paper-thin. My sister's nails are paper-thin, my mom's, my maternal grandmother's, and I'm sure pretty much all the previous women on my mother's side, going back generations. :P My nails are so thin, once they have an 8th of an inch of length, I can bend them down 90 degrees and they'll snap back up into place. Usually without breaking at all. (Now, my father's nails are CLAWS. Stiff, strong, will happily grown to half an inch and stay that way if they aren't trimmed. This frustrates me to no end, because of course he doesn't do anything with them. ARGH. If only I'd inherited his lovely nail genes!!!!!!1!!! *headdesk*)

Aside from being pretty much useless as tools, thin nails do not wear nail polish well. Nail polish is stiff, without much bend at all. And when something stiff is applied over a flexible base, it breaks and chips. Quickly. A manicure on my thin and weak natural nails will last two days at most, if I don't baby it. If I do baby it--wear gloves whenever washing dishes or taking a shower or anything else that involves heavy hand work--they can last a week. This is frustrating, especially when most nail polish brands brag about lasting for weeks. Sure, polish can last--on a strong natural nail. On weak bendy ones??? No brand will. :C

Finally realizing that my nails are the exception to the norm, I did a random google about how fake nails worked. And that opened up a huuuge new world! XD Here is the link to my favorite nail guru, Suzie of Nail Career Education.

For anyone who doesn't know how fake nails work, the traditional way is to sculpt them. You have an acrylic powder, a liquid monomer. Combine the two on the tip of a paintbrush, put the resulting wet blob on a nail, and shape it into place before it dries. Add more blobs if needed. It hardens within a couple of minutes. Then use nail files to grind it into the final shape and smoothness. Apply polish!

The above is obviously simplified, but that's it in a nutshell. And this is what I've been practicing. :3 See below!

These are my first four attempts at sculpting nails. As Jenna Marbles teaches us, trying to sculpt your first acrylic nails attempts on your own hand--or someone else's--is not wise. So I bought 10 plastic practice fingers off Amazon. I've set a rule for myself to complete my first 10 sculpted nails on these fingers before I will consider applying any acrylic to my own. Safety first!

Controlling the thickness of the nail is difficult. And it sounds funny, but I forget just how small you have to work! All those nail vids are filmed zoomed waaaay in, and the nails look positively huge. But in reality, you're working on a tiny surface. O.o It definitely takes practice.

But I am improving! I did two the nails on the right of the pic above last night, and I definitely see improvement. :3 Applying acrylic to my natural nails comes ever closer! And then, one day, I too will have strong, long, beautifully painted nails. *happy sigh*

I'll be sharing some nail art pics in the future, for fun. ^^V I do enjoy painting my natural nails, as weak as they are. It's still satisfying to create wearable art!! XD

comments

Late update is late. Again.

Hello, everyone! It's been a year since I posted, so I decided to give you all an update. C:

Covid hasn't had a real effect on me, aside from raising my general stress level. I already worked at home, watched (or actually mostly listen to) a lot of different streaming services, and spent QT with my beloved cats. Grocery shopping became more complicated, and I almost ran out of sugar, but things aren't too changed.

One close friend had to be tested bc of exposure to a Covid-positive person at her workplace, and at least one more distant friend. (Both negative, thankfully!) Now I'm waiting for results on a family member, who had a classmate who tested positive. T.T This really brings it home. Terrifying stuff.

I don't remember most of this year, thanks to being in a constant state of near panic with my job. I do dearly love my job, still, but I've slowed down and can't keep up the frenetic pace I've needed for the past 15 years. I've given up 2.5 volumes to pinch hitters and that has been a big help. To be honest, I don't remember actively lettering several of my most recent books. I know I DID, but damned if I actually remember doing it. The pages are all a complete blur in my mind. O.o

So 2020 has been a dumpster fire for me, too, if for different reasons than most people. To mark the occasion, here is a great song parody that my lovely friend Mab introduced me to. It was created in April and is a bit out of date, but still good. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lK6tdsVS2tI

comments

I am not the person you are looking for.

I've been in my condo since May '16, but I still receive snail mail for 5 previous residents. I diligently Return to Sender it all, and now there's a new one. From a city court in a different state. All I can see through the addy window, aside from his name and my address, is "Case Number".

Of course I'll send it back, as usual. But this particular sender made me Google the resident. He has a FB page that hasn't been publicly(?) updated since 2017, and all addresses that I could find online still come up to mine. :P

There are also two very similar first names with the same last name, think "Jason" and "Mason". I have to wonder if one is, at best, his middle name used as a first name, or at worst an alias.

I did meet the husband half of my condo's previous residents directly before me. He was very polite and conservative. Definitely NOT this guy, based on pictures, some criminal charges listed online, and my positive impression of this hubby.

I just hope this envelope's case is about a parking ticket. *sigh*

comments

We're off to see the doctor, the wonderful computer doc!

Hi, everyone! Finally FINALLY took my laptop (named Minako) to the computer doctor. Minako hasn't been able to DL a Windows update for ~3 years. The progress bar just sits there at 0% for hours. Without being able to update, I couldn't install Photoshop or InDesign, which are the main programs I need for work. (Hence why I borrowed Mab's MacBook and drawing tablet last December when I visited TX for a week.)

Computer doc said Windows needs to be reloaded on Minako to fix it, and a solid state hard drive to replace the old-school spinning one. Also it's $50 cheaper for him to upgrade to Windows 10 from its current Windows 7. I'm very glad I saved nothing important on her, b/c it's ALL going. Pretty much format C:/, right?

This means I have no drawing tablet to use with Minako. Not until I buy a new one that works with Win10. But I can still do basic work on the go. Renaming pages, simple speck cleaning, placing the pages into InDesign, and adding the text.

It will be nice to have a mobile workplace again. ^^ And I'll say this for Adobe's irritating subscription model for their programs: I can install Photoshop and everything else without having to worry about buying the newest versions! :P~~~

Oh hey...if I do buy a new tablet for Minako (named "Artemis", of course), then I could install Illustrator w/o having to worry if I've cleaned enough space of my work computer (Shetan). Something to think about! :D

comments

Work hell...it's good because money and it's bad because HARD

Hi, everyone!

Sorry I dropped off the map again. I had to scramble to finish Behind the Scenes vol 7. I was behind. WAY behind. The most I've ever BEEN behind. It was a powerful reminder of why I create a daily page quota, and why I need to stick to it. *face palm*

I go through stages of work hell. First, when I have the most energy reserves, I stop streaming movies and tv shows, and instead I listen to audiobooks and podcasts. This round of work hell, I listened to three audiobooks and IDK how many hours of podcasts. When my attention starts to wander from pure audio, I switch to watching/listening to documentaries. Docus are good because they usually have narration. I don't have to keep my eye on the screen to catch important details, I can just listen and work. I watched 11 documentaries, mostly on Amazon. Third, I switch to standup. Standup is good because it makes me laugh, which increases my energy level and keeps me working. And finally, the last stage is comfort shows. Namely, MASH and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. These are shows that I have watched so many times I have them memorized, and that make me feel happy and safe and reduce stress. Thus, I can work.

This bought of work hell, I skipped the standup stage and went straight to MLP. I watched four episodes as I struggled to finish the book. Which I did. Thankfully.

I spent most of Tuesday and Wednesday asleep, and a bit of Thursday, too. I appear to be recovered. ^^ Now I need to start my next two books, which are Skip 43 and a new title's volume 1.

I hope all of you are doing well, and are able to avoid your own bouts of work hell! *hugs*

comments

Work update! It's been far too long.

I can't think of what to talk about today. Too brain dead, maybe? But to keep from missing a day, here's where I am in lettering manga:

Behind the Scenes (Urakata!!) by Bisco Hatori: in the middle of volume 7, the final volume.

Chainsaw Man by Fujimoto Tatsuki: I'll be lettering chapter 19 this weekend. (This one runs a chapter a week, rather than in volume chunks. IDK if a volume release will eventually follow, but I wouldn't mind. C: )

Natsume's Book of Friends (Natsume Yuujinchou) by Midorikawa Yuki: finished volume 23 about a month ago. Series still ongoing.

Requiem of the Rose King (Bara Ou no Souretsu) by Kanno Aya: finished volume 10 right after the new year. Series still ongoing.

Seraph of the End (Owari no Serafu) by Kagami, Yamamoto, and Furuya: I'll be starting volume 17 in a few weeks. Series ongoing for a bit longer; we're definitely in the endgame. I'll also be lettering chapter 78 in a few weeks. This one first appears in English in monthly chapters, then a volume release follows about a year later.

Skip Beat by Nakamura Yoshiki: I'll be starting volume 43 in a few weeks. Still ongoing, and I've lettered every single volume. This is by far my longest-running title. C:

New Title #N: I'll be starting this one in a few weeks, too. It's going to be a busy spring and summer!

Series I finished last year: After Hours by Nishio Yuhta, ended at volume 3. Bloody Mary by Samamiya Akaza, ended at volume 10. Build King by Shimabukuro Mitsutoshi, a oneshot chapter that appeared in Shonen Jump magazine. COMIQ by Takahashi Suzuki, a short seven-chapter series that also appeared in the magazine. Again, IDK if a volume release will happen, but it is the perfect length. C:

comments

Everyone loves a surprise visit to the vet.

Thanks so much to everyone who commented yesterday. I was so happy to see one reply, five was overwhelming!!! Thank you! :DDD

Today I'm posting an adventure, rather than a life update. So...this morning I noticed Shizu (my 3 year old Maine Coon) had blood in his stool, which was also runny. (Apologies to the sensitive, this is the last I'll mention poo.) I half-way panic, wondering what was wrong with my baby. The vet didn't open until 8, so I was stuck until then.

He was acting completely normal. I was brushing his belly when I saw black streaks on his pale cream fur. I realized it was oil from my bicycle, which I had started keeping in the entryway rather than out on my balcony. I cut the oiled fur out, and put the canvas cover over my bike...which was open on the bottom. It just drapes over the top and either end. This ended up making the bike even MORE interesting, and next thing I know, Shizu is underneath the cover and having a blast. I called him out, and of course, oil was now all over. Ugh.

I cut out what I could (including his right ear tuft), washed off the rest with a little Palm Olive and a paper towel. Finally got a hold of the vet, and took him in.

Vet thinks he'll be fine. Gave him an antibiotic shot, and I have to squirt some strong probiotic paste down his throat every 12 hours. If he's not back to normal on Monday, I should call.

He also weighs 16.1 pounds, and it's all muscle and bone. ^^V I love my big heavy baby!

Vet said if this or something similar happens again, don't use soap or rubbing alcohol. Instead, clean with vodka. Yes, the Russian potato liquor. You don't have to rinse after cleaning with vodka, it will evaporate. This public service announcement has been brought to you by Shizuo and 3-in-one household oil. :P

The bike is back out on the balcony. I'll just deal with the spiders.

comments

Yes, DW! TAKE MY MONEY! FREEDOM OF SPEECH FOREVER!!1!!!

That is all.
Hi, everyone! I have a second cat, at last. :D

Hi, everyone!

Yep, still here. C:

Not much has changed in my life, except for one new addition! Last November, I bought a Maine Coon kitten. :3 I wanted a Maine Coon, like my beloved Spicer-kitty, but I didn't want to deal with the congenital heart disease so ingrained into the breed. The only way you can try to avoid it is to know the parentage of a kitten, and said parents' heath. And the only way to know that for sure is to buy a purebred kitten. So I did. C:

I googled for "Maine Coon kitten Portland", and of the handful of true local results, my top pick actually had kittens available. So on Sunday, November 13th, I brought him home. Here he is, that very day!

( Click for adorable kitten! )

On the drive home, I tried out the names of several fictional men with blond hair. Edward Elric, Legolas, etc, but when I tried "Shizuo", from one of my favorite anime sereis Durarara, he looked up at me, eyes wide and ears pricked. So Shizuo he is!! Just "Shizu", for short.

Next time, I'll share another pic and talk about him and Kakashi. Hope you enjoyed this cat-centric update!! And the kitty pic. :3

comments

Home-buying adventure monkey wrench in the works

I knew my condo-buying adventure was going too easily. My realtor called today to say the underwriter is unhappy with the appraisal. :C Apparently this is a very rare thing. (Personally, when it comes to beating the odds, I'd rather win the lottery.) He's going to call tomorrow after he's talked more with the loan officer, but I might end up having to use a different bank or mortgage company. Nrrrrrrrgh. *headdesk* And here I thought I was almost done with this chore. *sigh*

comments

Drumroll please...also shigoto update!

The bank appraisal on my potential future condo happens tomorrow, Wednesday. *gulp* This will be the deciding moment, guys! If the bank says the place is worth less than my offer, and the seller won't take the reduced amount, then my search resumes. Ohhh boy.

In work news, I was able to scramble enough to finish Seraph with the extended deadline Seraph Editor 2 gave me. Yay! Mab came over and did some work of her own, and having her here in person helped keep my energy up! Especially when she read aloud two of her racier fics! *laughs* Oh my!! Corrections were sent to me the next day, and I completed them this past weekend.

I'm a few pages into Bloody v3. Thankfully no horrid omake spreads to deal with this time! (Check out v2 when it's out and you'll understand immediately. GAH.) I'm finally getting the hang of the interspatial pages for this series, too! ^^V Unfortunately, this volume will be rushed. But I've already done the two worst pages! Most of Bloody's pages have only one or two minor FX, which means it usually goes quickly.

Have script for Behind v1 and Skip v37. Have yet to start either, though I've made my key sheet for Behind. This one is a little easier than v1, as is usual for manga. Gotta put a lot of effort into vol 1s, to catch those readers and earn those votes!

As usual, I'm in the middle of several different audiobook series. I very rarely read (meaning listen to) more than one book in the same series in a row, to avoid burnout. Well, unless one volume ends on a terrible cliffhanger and I MUST KNOW WHAT HAPPENS. *laughs*

But I think I'll save my current reading ramblings for my next post. ^^ I am trying to post more often, and gotta pace myself!! Also if I delay posting this right now, I might not post at all. I know myself well. ^^;;;;

Onward!

comments

Do I win the cleaning Olympics?

I cleaned for 6 hours today, and I am STILL not done. I made a list this morning of everything I needed to clean, and marked the most important ones. (Windows, mop, vacuum, empty cabinets under sinks so the apartment guys can check for leaks.) I took 3 times my usual dose of caffeine, and got busy.

( In which slr2moons details her cleaning adventure. )

I still have some stuff to do. Gotta finish cleaning the stove top, sweep up the floor in the bathroom, pick up scattered laundry and make sure at least all the underwear is hidden. :P I need to do this all tonight, too, b/c last year the inspection started with MY building, right at 9 AM. Bleh.

Gonna take another painkiller before I go to bed tonight. I'm gonna be sore tomorrow from all this vigorous exercising. And possible with the sniffles, too. I get sick easily these days, my endurance is really down. X|

But at least now my apartment smells pleasantly of Mr. Clean. I wish my walking buddies Sno and Mab were coming over in the next few days, so they could see how nice everything looks. ^^ And I noticed my windows are easier to slide open and closed! Imagine that.

Now, it is 8:30 PM, and I can finally get to work. Wheeeeee!

comments

Sometimes life hits you like a Mack truck. Like this week. :P

Hi, everyone. Yes, I vanished again. *sighs* I certainly didn't WANT to. *headdesk*

The past few weeks have been interesting, in that Chinese curse way. In the past week alone: I'm 3/4ths through the process of buying a condo. (SO MUCH PAPERWORK GAH) Estimated taxes #4 were due on Friday (I am le broke now), the annual apartment inspection for water leaks and potential meth labs is Monday (which means I have to deep clean this weekend UGH), my right-side work monitor finally died and I bought another new one to match the recently replaced left monitor (see le broke note), and this weekend was a local convention I wanted to attend with a friend, but had to cancel because of everything else going on. >< (I had my Agatha from Girl Genius cosplay mostly ready, too. Wig and trilobite pin and all.)

And work is hanging heavy over me, as usual. Annnnd I've been 25-75% sick throughout it all. Fun times.

I want to post this now, so I don't put it off any longer. GAH.

More tomorrow or Monday. If I don't follow through with that, please poke me. Seriously, I miss posting!!!

comments

Shigoto update!

I thought I'd do a shigoto update, since it's been a while. C:

Behind the Scenes (the college club comedy) - Volume 1 was finished a couple of weeks ago. I don't have the tanko (Japanese graphic novel) for vol 2 yet, but the raws are up and ready for me. No script, either, so not currently lettering this one.

Bloody Mary (the vampire comedy) - Volume 2 has corrections left. I do have the tanko for vol 3 already, but no script. My editor said I should have script pretty soon. C:

Natsume's Book of Friends (quiet teen boy who sees spirits) - Volume 19 was also finished a couple of weeks ago. They print Natsume quickly, so hopefully it will be out on shelves soon! No word yet on volume 20, but I'm sure it's coming, probably in early spring next year.

Requiem of the Rose King (retelling of War of the Roses, shoujo manga style) - Volume 3 should be out soon, if not already. I've just started lettering volume 4!

Seraph of the End (vampire action) - Volume 8 was finished a couple months back. I have everything I need to start volume 9. Chapter 39 (which will be the first chapter in volume 11) came out this month in the magazine. Things are getting verrry interesting.

Skip Beat (showbiz comedy) - Volume 36 was completed last week. It ends on a killer cliffhanger. :D

And those are my six ongoing titles! ATM, I'm only working on Requiem and Seraph. But Behind will start up again sometime this month, most likely. Possibly Bloody, too. No random BL books right now, either. If the pattern holds, this time next year I'll have Lost Letters vol 3 (overall vol 4 for the series, since volume 1 was called "The Match Seller".)

Requiem is due in mid December, but this will be an easy volume (mostly dialogue, spare FX), which means it will be quick to letter. Seraph is due after the New Year. I am cautiously optimistic about my current work load! :DDD

comments
