slr2moons: a self-portrait, of me in my usual habitat: in front of my computer monitors! (chibi s2m)

emotions are such fickle things!

I find it rather amusing how emotional I can be, and how easily good fiction can affect my mood. Today, for example, I've been on an emotional rollercoaster thanks to a magnificent Draco/Harry friendship-->shounenai fic I heard about in ye olde fanficrants. It's fabulous, and I keep bouncing from elation to tears to joy to horror and back to elation. This is silly...and I'm only half-way through the fic!! (It's 25 chapters long.)
As a further example, the early Naruto story arc with Zabuza and Haku always makes me cry at the end, and I must have read these volumes 5 times, not to mention watching the anime. I suppose artists are expected to be emotional, but perhaps I'm an exceptional case. I remember one of the worst fights I ever had with my mother was back when I was a teenager and reading a book about a girl whose life was falling apart. X_x But mind you, only well-written fiction does this to me. I have to be swept up in the story to be so affected, so at least it does take something rather special to influence me. It's not like a commercial or sitcom will set me off. :P

As insane as the emotional ride is, I don't feel guilty about reading this fic b/c hey, anything that keeps my energy up and thus keeps the work flowing!!!! It's amazing how quickly I can FX when I'm giggling, squeeing, or sobbing. Yes, distraction can definitely be good!

Fanfic news! I posted chapter 2 to Lunaescence two nights ago.
Unfortunately, the preview option didn't display my fic the way it loaded on the page. Thankfully three reviewers pointed out my error, so I fixed the problem of my fic displaying as one loooong block of text, thanked them, and hoped not too many people noticed my blunder. Note to self: do not forget the "p" tag at the beginning of every paragraph when posting to Lunaescence. But hey, I earned my 3rd story favorite! By someone who pointed out my paragraph error, at that. Heh. ^^V My fic's link, for posterity: http://www.lunaescence.com/fics/viewstory.php?sid=2822 And yes, this is the same fic as I have on The Pit. And now they match. ^^

Amusing anecdote: I'm a curious person, so I clicked on one of the people who had favorited my fanfic. I visited her profile, and quickly realized I had wooed another young teenager. X_x Believe me when I say her profile positively REEKED of it. But okay,so she likes my writing. Cool. ^^V I arrowed down through the miles of randomness on her profile page and reached a section of further randomness of  a section of "This Naruto chibi has been adopted by (her name here)", with a pic of said character's chibi and a place for the adopter to ender a cute name and such. Interestingly...she named her first of several Gaara chibis..."Ai-kun". Whoa. That makes me grin. ^^

I hope I can work on part three of my fic some more soon. Last night I made some significant progress. Yay to the adrenaline rush of writing!! (See aforementioned note about anything that keeps the energy level up.) I managed to give myself goosebumps several times while pecking away at it. ^^ Of course, this was in the spare moments when Tsukushi was processing/printing. No way can I reserve time specifically for ficcing (or blogging) at the moment. ><

I must confess. I was bad and went to dinner with my parents Sat night. We had Chinese buffet. It was sooooo yummy....>< And it was soooo nice to escape the house. ><

And of course, the manga report. Pages completed since my last bit of blogging...Clay 9.57-59, 62, 68, 69, 74, 78. Nana 12.195 and 198. Only one page of Nana vol 12 left!! New 1.60, 65, 69, 71. Skip 9.49, 50, 61-63. Temp fanbook.229, 231, 232. Yellow: 10, Orange: 11, Pink/PfH: 2. Total: 23 pages over 2.25 days. It would probably be around 27 total if I hadn't gone to dinner. Now I have guilt. >< Especially since I will likely have more English pages Monday. Oog. But at least today I made my quota. Yay! ^^
