Holidaze report '09 version

I'm back in Oregon. ^^ My trip to the hometown was very enjoyable, it even snowed there for me! Heh! Every day was awesome. Thanks to my mom and some lovely restaurants I was able to eat almost all of my favorite foods that are only available there, and I received some great presents. XD

Present highlights: a new pair of awesome running shoes, which I badly needed. Also a waterproof jacket and pants set for when I run in the rain, which I badly needed. (Soaking wet hoodies are HEAVY! And COLD!)  I now have a jogging/hiking GPS, as I cue directions off the sun and have gotten lost in Portland twice on overcast days. A copy of Poison Elves: Salvation, out of print and expensive (my sister completely surprised me with that one!) and finally, a framed pic of my parents and sister taken at Blarney Castle in Ireland on their vacation last year. Yay!

Most of the presents--including the mentioned GPS and book--are coming in a big box via Fed Ex, but I wore the shoes home and packed the waterproof set in my suitcase. =D

Ah yes, and much to my amusement, the day after I left Portland to visit TX, it snowed here. And it had completely melted by the time I returned!!! At least I saw snow in Texas, which is far rarer than snow in Portland anyway. They even had a white Christmas this year! Not while I was there, of course, but still.

I watched six movies in the almost-week I was back home, which is more than I usually watch in a full year. Cameron's Avatar--in 3D. (Stopped at the theater on the way from the airport so we could watch in 3D, my sister met us there. Predictable movie, but I really enjoyed it anyway. The male lead in his blue form is HAWT! X3) Star Trek: Reboot (had watched before, but parents love it and I don't mind it, so fine with me to watch a 2nd time), Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen (never watching that again. This movie does NOT exist in my personal canon.), Twilight (I know, I know! But I let my sister talk me into going to see New Moon and I was morbidly curious anyway...so yeah, I've watched Twilight now. *hangs head in shame*) New Moon (okay, I"m buying this one when it's out on DVD. Team Jacob all the way1!! NOTE: I was on Team Jacob from the first time I read the books, I'm not one of those fangirls who was converted by actor!Jacobs shirtless chest. *raspberries*) annd last, the Princess and the Frog (So fun and sweet!!!! I want the main character's white sparkly dress. X3 I admit it, I had tears in my eyes when the film began. Traditional 2D animation from Disney once again. *sobs with joy*)

I did see my two IRL friends who still live in the hometown, which was great. I'm pleased they are doing well. *hugs for L-chan and R-chan both* Kiokonai couldn't squeeze a trip to TX out of her work schedule, so I'll end up mailing her present and giving her a phone call, instead of seeing her IRL. Oh well!

I think one of my favorite things about the trip home was seeing Braveheart, my family's first Maine Coon cat, again. He's so thin now, but he can still snuggle and purr up a storm! He was all OVER me the moment I walked in the front door, so of course I scooped him up and cuddled him like mad. :3 My visit invigorated him, as he really gave his "little" brother Pele a lesson in who was top of th pecking order. My parents were surprised, since these days Pele usually wins any confrontation between the two. Go, Braveheart!! XD He slept with me all the first night, almost all the 2nd night, and a bit of the third and fourth nights. Heeeeee. Warm kitty! <3

My flight to my OR home was very long. I couldn't sleep, so I read the entire way. 4/5thsof my book was read on the plane, then I finished it on the Max (train). Amusingly, an older woman who ended up stuck at the crosswalk light just north of my train station also had a suitcase with her, and come to find out she had been on the same flight and seated two rows up from me! Sing it! "It's a small world after all...."

Upon my return to my apartment, Spicer-kitty yelled at me for five minutes, as usual, then proceeded to be my furry shadow for the next 24 hours. He was't completely alone while I was away, as one of my local friends visited him half-way through my trip, but obviously it wasn't enough! I have a nibble on a little brother Maine Coon for him, though I think the odds on that one are against me. Have to call L-chan and ask if there's any news.

Yesterday I turned on Tsukushii (work computer) and everything was fine. I started Photoshop--and it froze. :\ I closed it, restarted Photoshop--froze again in the same place. Restarted entire computer, started Photoshop--yep. Reinstalled Photoshop from CD--also didn't work. asdfghjkl;!! I googled the phrase on the startup screen where it kept freezing plus the proggie name "Photoshop reading text global resources" and ended up with a ton of actual search results. Apparently freezing at that point is a common thing! First suggestion to fix it didn't work, the 2nd one did. Whew! Now I live in fear of having to restart Photoshop and encountering this problem again. What if none of the fixes work that 2nd time? *has wide eyes*

And now, the work front! I did  manage to finish two whole pages of Naruto 48 while in my parents' house. *laughs* Now that I'm back, I have to letter 6 pages a day to make my deadline of the 10th. Yesterday I did 12, so I'm not worried. Can't slack off, but not worried! Natsume 3 is in good shape, though I also have to stay on it. I fully expect to have script for Skip 22 or Nana 21.2 today or tomorrow. No news on New Title 5 yet, but it's coming. At least I know I have about four months before Clay 17 hits! Heh!

So ends my Giftmas and New Years holidaze. I am pleased with how they turned out! And now, back to our regularly scheduled work days.
