Shigoto....update... *faint*
I finally feel like I have a short moment to spare, so here's a quick shigoto update.
Clay 17 is progressing nicely. 4 pages a day will bring me under the deadline with some good buffer to spare. Yesterday I tackled the one purple page I've found in this vol so far (purple is worse than pink). I worked on it all day in short segments to prevent me form being burned out. Draw a Clay FX, letter some Natsume, back to Clay for the FX's touchup, do some Natsume FX, draw the next Clay FX, finish that page of Natsume, touchup on Clay, start a page of Naruto, one more Clay FX, etc etc. I probably spent about 5 or 6 hours on the single page of Clay, total. That was the only page of Clay I did letter yesterday. Thanks to the aforementioned buffer, this does not place me in a tight situation.
Naruto 50 is 3/4ths done. All the pink and orange pages are through, and that leaves orange dotted yellow or easier. Yay! I should finish up Foxy Boy and Angst Muffin here in a week or so.
Natsume 5 is progressing slowly, if on schedule. It's a particularly good volume! Chapter 17 made me tear up. *sniffles* The first chapter contained a LOT of screen tone, much more than usual for Natsume, but it looks like that was due to the setting and NOT a change in the mangaka's style. I sincerely hope it remains an anomaly! Layered tone makes everything more difficult, and I'm going to get my fill of that with New Title 5.
New Title 5 is about to begin. I have maybe a week or two before script arrives, I think. Shoujo Editor 3 wanted font tryout pages, and I spent yesterday making them. It's kind of fun faking dialogue. Yes, I could have translated the Japanese myself, but I really don't have the brainpower to spare for that right now. :B I sent the three different versions on one page to SE3 late last night. With luck, she'll like one without any needed tweaking! I plan to blog more about the whole fonts aspect later. It's interesting. Or at least, I think so!
Saiunkoku 1 is finished, and now I await corrections. (This is why I chose to letter that purple Clay page yesterday. It was my first day without a Saiunkoku quota.) I sent the first half to SE3 a couple weeks ago and have yet to hear about it or have the corrections sent to me, so I'm becoming a little nervous. ^^;;; I expect when they do arrive, it will be the equivalent of having your a classmate look at your page of homework and commenting that the teacher slaughtered a pig over it. *deep, bracing breath* I'll just have to wait and see!
Skip 22 is alllmost finished. I have 3 pages left! I've been lettering one page of Skip every few days, depending on my energy level and if I make my quota on everything else that day or not. The volume is due on the 23rd, so I'm not worried about finishing in time. ^^
I've been reading one of my fave shoujo manga, LoveCom. I plan to blog more about this later as well, but for now I will admit it's making me really want to work on my own original manga. I have the script and the pages I've already drawn open right now. I'm going to spend at least half an hour (in short snippets while I do my pro work) on it! I want to tell my own stories very very badly right now. This is something else to be saved for another post. Nrrrgh!
TIme for me to get to it. Everyone, please be well!
