I blame it all on the fanbrats...
Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to keep this separate from the Manga Method installment.

The third part of my Naruto fanfic, Distracting and a Great Bother, has been up on the Pit for 24 hours now. Alas, I was only on the Pit's "just in" Naruto page for a few hours. I'm not doing as well this time, hits-wise, as with the previous two installments. But now that I have three chapters up, watching the stats is very interesting.
I checked them right before I added the third installment, and they were 204 total hits for DaaGB and 169 hits for At the End of Climbing Trees. Now, 24 hours later, DaaGB has a total of 298 hits. Of these 94 new hits, only 13 of them are for part three. Wow. And since this is a part three, it's a safe bet that almost every hit on it is an actual read. So only 13 people liked my story enough to read it all the way through. No new reviews, no new favorites. Ttaku.
I feel kind of like a loser. I guess this is to be expected, since the Naruto fandom is huge (thus my fic is lost in the noise), it isn't a giggly squee-filled romance fest (cuz ZOMG GaaSasu is liek so HAWWT!!!111eleventy-one!) and I am a decent writer with a relatively wide vocabulary that I know how to use (Liek whut a SNOB, this is liek so hard to reed!) that scares off most fanbrats. Oh yeah, and my OC (another strike against me, but one that I really can't mock) isn't a teenager. She's an adult who has to worry about house payments and laundry and other boring adult stuff.
*sighs*
And no one has clicked on AtEoCT, either. I was hoping anyone who liked DaaGB would check out my other story. :P
To top it off, there's a thread on fanficrants about writing a decent in-character Gaara in a plot that makes sense. >< I have this vain, undying hope that my fic will be rec'ed one day as proof that it IS possible to write a decent in-character Gaara. Alas...and I don't have the nerve to rec it myself. :P
DaaGB part three also went up on Lunaescence this morning, so yay. ^^ Luna doesn't keep hit stats (alas again) but I did earn one new review. She's reviewed once before for part two, but at least I know she's still enjoying the story and likes the way I write. Banzai!
