30 Day Fanfiction Meme, day 7!
7 – Have you ever had a fic change your opinion of a character?
Yes. In fact, I say as much in the author's note. ^^
My Naruto gen fic, "At the End of Climbing Trees", was written in Sasuke's POV. This was Sasuke in volume...2? 3? Long before we had any idea of the truth behind the Uchiha massacre. All Sasuke knew was that his older brother killed his entire clan, and Sasuke would have to kill his closest friend.
Writing in that mindset helped me understand Sasuke's behavior and treatment of Naruto. I couldn't just blindly hate him anymore. I mean, if YOU knew you would have to kill your closest friend to complete your ultimate goal in life, would you want to make friends with anyone? And the YOU in question isn't an adult, but an 11 year old kid. Who has had this knowledge for about 5 years. That, along with the whole massacred-family-thing, would MESS YOU UP.
Because of AtEoCT, I went from hating to sort-of-kinda-though-I-don't-really-want-to-but-GAAAH liking Sasuke. :B

(Though Sasuke's reaction to the ultimate truth revealed later in Shippuuden almost reversed that liking. Recent chapters MIGHT redeem him, though. We'll see.)
