WORKWORKWORKWORKWORKWORK

*points up* That's me, right now. For the most part, each deadline since the disaster during the past summer is slightly easier to meet.

The past three weeks, I haven't been able to do anything outside of work but run errands and go to Book Club, and I really should have skipped that. Or at least bailed out when the 35-minute argument started over what we would be reading in future months. (Some days I just don't have the time and/or patience to sit through that fiasco.) I've missed a birthday party for a dear friend (so sorry, Sno!), and I will be missing a chili cookoff for another dear friend this Saturday (so sorry, Phil!), and it comes down to no fun for me until I'm done. With Natsume, at least.

Thankfully I have a three-week break from Seraph chapters, which will help. Though the GN version of volume 2 is due in March, and I have yet to start. Skip 33 is due in February, and I'll dive into both when I finish Natsume 16.

The Japanese volume of Clay 25 is here, which means the translator has it, too. I just hope I can at least finish Skip 33 before it's time for Clay 25. I'm so grateful Clay is only twice a year.

I have this longing to create my own stuff, in writing and artwork both. It isn't helped by my watching a documentary (in 15 to 20 minute chunks while I eat) on Netflix about Drew Struzan, a super-famous movie poster artist. I used to be pretty good with watercolors, enough that when I opened a scan a forest painting I did years ago, I was amazed that *I* painted it. I love my manga lettering job, I do, but I also wish I had more time for myself. I think if I didn't love my job so much, I wouldn't still be doing it. I'm at 9 years now, guys. Can you believe it?? I started in January '05. DAYUM.

I love telling stories. I really want to write that Transformers bunny I've had for years. And I know why, too: Transformers is a mega-fandom. It would earn me a plethora of hits, comments, reviews, and kudos. I'm craving feedback, since my poor Yuletide fic is being overlooked. (4 whole hits at FF.net, guys. FOUR. 72 at AO3. *pats her poor fic* I still love you!) And my Skip/Summer Wars crossover only had a modest influx of hits thanks to SW being on the Cartoon Network in December. This is what I get for writing in small (or microscopic) fandoms, I know.

I really really want to write one of my Natsume bunnies, too. No doubt in part because I'm neck-deep in lettering vol 16. But I also have this small wish to write at least one fic for every manga I've lettered. (Clay: check. Naruto: check. Skip: check. And that's it. Oh dear...) I'm not sure I've ever shared my Natsume bunnies, but the two main ones I want to write are something with the adorable kitsune youkai becoming a permanent part of Natsume's life--with lots of Misuzu around, because I love Misuzu--or Natsume's grandfather being a Matoba, and all the fallout that would bring--also with lots of Misuzu, because I love Misuzu. Ahhhhhh! I wanna tell stories!!!

And my own original stories, too. I've said it before, but if I've learned anything this past year, it's...actually, it's DON'T FALL BEHIND. *cough* But the other thing I learned is YOU REALLY CAN WORK THAT HARD. Granted, it can make me sick like it did during Voice 3, but I really can do it.

I have so many stories I want to tell. Some for fun, some because I think other people would enjoy them, but all for my own enjoyment.

I should stop writing this blog post and get back to work. Natsume won't letter itself. Don't let me being busy stop you from commenting! I haven't heard from anyone in some time.
