You never know who you're going to meet...
I had an interesting guest today. I was outside this evening, and had just finished giving Ginger and Bonfire their dinner. I walked back to the house to retrieve my water bottle, watch, and book for my daily jogging. Only a few steps from the door, something to the left, right up next to the house, caught my eye. I glanced over, gave a yelp of surprise, and leaped backwards.
My first thought: whoaSNAKE!
My second thought: GREENsnake! Not poisonous.
My third thought: Eeeeeee!!! I'm so lucky!!
As you might have guessed, I rather like snakes. They are elegant and graceful and awe-inspiring. I've liked them for as long as I can remember!Yes, I was the only girl in my elementary school class who hung out in the Snake House on our trip to the zoo. Snakes are cool! Pass the silver and green scarf and sort me into Slytherin. ^^V
But back to my unexpected guest. He was a rather pretty snake! Bright green, with a cheerful yellow belly. His green faded to brownish red on his tail. He was of a respectable size, about 3 feet long. But unfortunately, Hebi-chan's thoughts must have been along the lines of:
bigHUMAN! Ghaaaa!
Because he immediately tried to escape. But the poor guy couldn't find any good traction against the smooth concrete of our patio, since he ended up slithering in place and barely moving forward. O_o He finally started moving, desperately keeping right up against the house. He slithered past the front door and along the wall, with me pacing him, absolutely fascinated, keeping about 5 feet away. Hebi-chan finally stopped at the end of our house underneath the faucet, draped across the green garden hose. (Camouflage, you know).
I watched Hebi-chan for a minute or so longer, then reluctantly went back to what I had been doing when it became apparent he wasn't going to budge until I left. So I retreived my water bottle, watch, and book for my jogging session. By the time I had made my first lap around the house and approached where I had left him, Hebi-chan had vanished. Awwwwwwww.
But it was still cool. ^^V He was a pretty snake. I'd like to see him again! =D
