stuck in the doldrums of corrections...

Shoujo Editor #3 really tweaked the dialogue for Wanted, changing words on almost every page...of the entire volume. O.o Thankfully 95% of the corrections are just that, text changes, which are easy. Open page, make changes, save, bitmap, save again. Easy, if tedious. I'm about half-way through the book now. Five days of effort so far. Wheee!!!! The not so great thing about tons of corrections is I have to balance them with prelettering, and that can be fun. Meh. The definitely not so great thing about them is they come as a pdf file, which means I have to open Acrobat Reader. And that program eats RAM like Naruto on ramen. --;;; I can't listen to my mp3s, I have to be careful about watching avis, pages take forever to load, etc etc etc. Oh well, I'll live. I don't really mind corrections since they improve the book, so onward to the horizon! Though since I'm stuck in the doldrums, I'm gonna have to row. Oog.

My family has an amusing and unusual problem: we can't give our piano away. O.o Yes, I'm serious. It's an old upright piano with pedal-driven player piano accessories (no, it doesn't work anymore. The parts are all fused together.) The problem is that the piano is HUGE. 6 feet wide, 5 feet tall, three feet deep. And it weighs a ton, thanks to its sheer size and all those parts. It takes two piano movers and four strong men to move the damn thing, which we well know since we've moved twice and dragged it along.

We've been trying to give the piano away for about 6 months now. We get a nibble here and there, but no takers, they always chicken out. The piano works fine, though it needs a tuning. It's just so huuuuuuge. I feel a bit weird about my mother's desire to get rid of it. My parents bought it back when I was 4 or so, for my sister to play. We both took lessons through elementary school, though Bad Grandmother harassed me into hating practicing. I still play it every so often. Last summer I even dug out my old primers and taught myself to read music again. I honestly do like playing. If only it didn't weigh so much, I'd take it with me when I move. *makes frustrated and wistful noise*

So. Anyone want a free piano?? Yes, I'm serious. I'd rather it went to someone I knew anyway. *sighs*
