Rambly update post is rambly
It's always a sad realization when my huge library of ganked tones (and I'm a terrible filch of them) does not have what I need for touching up a page. Which means I have to touch up the hard way. Ooog. Today's culprit is Captive vol 4 page 102. The right side of the page has a background tone of blurry lines of various grayscales. I have some patches that match, but said patches aren't nearly enough to replace the entire half-page of background tone needed here. Grrmph. Of course, I WOULD have the perfect replacement tone in a large enough swatch if my various mangaka wouldn't keep interfering with my happy ganking by drawing characters or huge sound effects or layering other tones over it. How selfish if them to mar the tones!! *raspberries*
Q: How do you know you're a professional manga touch-up artist?
A: When you pause while reading a title and drool over the huge, uncluttered, unmarred mass of tone just SITTING on the page, whispering "Gank meeeeeeee....!" Except all too often it's someone else's title and I can't gank it b/c I'm reading the book and have no access to the tiff. *sulks*

I'm about half-way through Captive 4. Honey 10 is coming along. I'm very glad I have so much time on this final volume, since as previously mentioned the Umino Chika-sensei cut loose and went crazy in the 2nd half. *wince* I just started Nana 17. I'm printing Nana again! Yay! I'm about a fourth of the way into Skip 19. My Japanese tanko for Skip 20 came a few days ago, and my freebie copies of Eng vol 16. Heeeeeeee. I <3 Skip!!!!!! I'm behind on my Skip anime watching, though.
I've begun creating a library of men's hairstyles. Hair is one of my definite artistic weaknesses. I suck at drawing it. So I've begun sketching down various 'dos that I find in anime and manga. I just studied almost the entire male cast of Kyou Kara Maoh. Ep 95 had this one pan over all the guys except Yozak and Gwendal which was perfect. It also had Sara and Sara's Tall Dark and Handsome Guard whose name I can't remember. And OMG Sara's seiyuu is Ishida Akira-sama!!! *fangirlish spasms of joy* (Ishida Akira = Gaara-sama, Xellos, Hakkai, Yasuaki, and a thousand other awesome roles.)
Development of my original manga story is coming along. I need to do some research as to what should be included in a professional comic pitch. I wonder how much the intrawebs will help me on that? Anyway, I'm still liking the story and think about it every day when I go for my run. Today, for example, I discovered a nasty plot hole that must be addressed and decided to turn a little evil in regards to how much I will reveal in the first couple of chapters. IOW: not very much. Mwahahahah! 3/4ths of everything I've come up with for this story was done while jogging. This is why I don't listen to music when I'm exercising, it's too distracting. Not to mention I would be unable to hear approaching cars and rude bicyclists who don't alert me that they're about to mow me down. (It's happened twice. Inconsiderate jerks. Both were men, too. >:| Humph! I heard them just in time to freeze with my arms clamped to my sides so I'd be as narrow as possible while said bicyclists shot by. A bike can kill a pedestrian, jerks!!!)
I finished the sketch of my giftpic to my translator friend last night. Twilaa-chan kindly beta-ed it for me, so now I need to tweak it, then do the final line, then I can start applying color!! Woot!!!
Remember my Gaara-sama/FOC fic, Distracting and a Great Bother? I worked on it yesterday for the first time in two months. I do believe I have finished part 6! But I'm going to wait to post it. Not only for beta-reading purposes, but b/c I want to write enough of the ending, part 7, before I post 6. I might need to tweak something in 6 for the sake of the story's conclusion in 7. But the end is in sight!!! Woooooo! (Okay, I know only three of you really care, but still. I'm excited!! XD)
That's it for now, I guess. Back to work!
