Mina-san, Jake, my printer, is officially worn out. He isn't dead, as he still TRIES to print, but he can no longer grasp the paper, and thus keeps insisting there's a jam when actually he just drops the sheet every time. This has been going on for a couple weeks, but I've always been able to lay the dropped page flat in the tray again, and on the 2nd or 3rd try, he'd manage to print.
This morning, though, we did our paper-jam-but-not dance 10 times in a row for one page of Skip, and I decided to it was time to put Jake out of his misery. He's been with me from the very beginning, back with Nana vol 1 in January '05. And since then, he's printed an estimated 11,000 pages. I think any printer who has managed that many pages of manga output deserves a nice, peaceful end.
Thank you, Jake. It was great working with you. *pats him more for her own sake than his* It will be a good end, though, as Dell offers free recycling when you buy a new printer from them. So he will go on to have a new life, reincarnated as shiny electronics for others in the world. Until then, Jake, you may sleep. *flips off his power switch for the last time*
I've clicked through my order at Dell for his replacement. Should be here around Thursday or Friday. I've even already named him, and it isn't Jake2. Everyone, prepare to meet Seth!! May our working relationship be as devoted as mine and Jake's. (And this time I won't let Spicer-kitty sit on him.)
