Work Hell '09 #1 - week 1
Here's the first of the "I'm still alive and kicking" posts. ^^ I'm a bit tired today, but still managing to chip away at work and life. *is gallantly fighting back the zombiedom*
Hoth, my air conditioner, arrived the day I found out about Naruto 46 landing a month early. Foxy-boy and Angst-muffin kind of overshadowed Hoth, which is why I mention him now. He was easy to set up, though my window spacer is this sad very temporary affair until I can spare the time and energy to go buy plexiglass--or until my apartment management complains. Hopefully they won't notice. *furtive look around* It is kind of sneaky in its design. It's a good thing I paid for the next model up, as this one can barely keep my room cool. Though it's understandable, what with my far-from-airtight window seal and the direct sunlight for 5 hours a day.
I'll be finished with Clay 15 in about a week. I completely lucked out that this volume was easy--by Clay standards. All I have left are Green and Green Dot pages. Whew!
Nana 19 is chugging along, though I've lost half my buffer and am now only about 2 weeks ahead of schedule. This is why I have the buffer, though, so I can put one title on the back burner and focus on others if need be. *sigh* With vol 20, Nana's publishing pace will slow as we'll be caught up with the Japanese release. Yay!
Script for Naruto 46 isn't here yet. I'm still doing the gruntwork in preparation. I'm about a fourth of the way through the volume. Now that I no longer have Clay or Natsume to preletter, I can focus on more Naruto pages every day. :B
I wrapped up Natsume vol 1 today, a week early. SE2 estimates vol 2 will be ready for me to start in late July, which is fine by me. I'll make the most of this mini-break! Too bad chapter 1 won't be previewing in SB, but oh well. :| Now I hope Shonen Jump mag will have a page dedicated to Viz's shoujo stuff, though they'll have to sacrifice a page of their usual non-manga pages (read: gaming noise) to do it. :P~~~
The first half of Skip 20 was completed last week, and I've been lettering Pink and Orange pages from the 2nd half to get them out of the way before Naruto hits. The Japanese tankoubon of Skip 21 arrived today, and of course I immediately flipped through it. Looks like this volume is easier than 20, which is a relief to me as 20 almost returned to the level of those hair-curling nasty early Skip volumes. U.U I also now know why vol 20 is so sugary sweet--it balances out vol 21. O.o *will say no more* I will say, though, that there's this KILLER shot of Ren on page 51. GUH. *drools* Someone needs to kit Kyoko with a clue bat! I nominate Sho, though he'd rather the clue bat be about himself.
I owe email, snail mail, or comments to several of you. Forgive me my silence, I've been rather frantic lately. I'll try to fix it ASAP.
Oh yes, and I've had an epiphany of sorts regarding my future original manga. I'd intended to post about it days ago, but...yeah. Anyway, perhaps I'll make it the main feature of next week's "I"m sill alive!" post. Though Naruto should be here by then. Urgh. It's a good thing I love that series. So until next week! Or when something pulls me out of my silence, whichever comes first.
