My original manga: pages 1-6
Mina-san, I am very happy to bring you the opening scene of my NaNo project. I'd hoped to post these pages on November 4th, but better late than never. ^^ It's become quite clear I cannot handle two pages a day on top of my paid work, so my goal is no longer to finish 50 pages by November 30th, but by December 31st. That will be challenge enough, I think!
Title: yet to be determined, actually. Still thinking on it.
Genre: drama and horror
Rating: PG-13 for dark themes and one line of dialogue. SFW if no one else notices that specific word bubble.
Length: 6 WIP pages. Clothing and character designs likely to change! Particularly since I'm working without any model sheets, which means features and clothes morph from page to page. :P Backgrounds are pretty much nonexistent, too.
Concrit welcome!
I also will be posting them to my DA account.
Pages read the normal English way, from left to right.
Feedback is welcome, just remember it's a rough! :B
My fave character so far is Gay Interviewer, for the simple reason it was so much fun to draw him and Laurie's interchanges with him. Heeee. Yes, he WILL be dressed in the final version. Something flamboyant but proper for a talk show host.
Unlike my comedy doujinshi, this comic will be dialogue-heavy. I found myself stuck several times about how to portray the second, more serious conversation. For help, I turned to the master of comic dialogue: Yazawa Ai-sensei of Nana. She also reminded me you DON'T have to show both people in every panel of talking. *facepalm* (I've read at least 100,000 pages of manga and managed to forget this. OOPS.)
The most difficult page for me was actually the title page. I spent four days on it. *wince* It took some extreme trial and error for me to realize my original concept was not going to work, and then to settle on a second one that would. I like the second one more, anyway. ^^ I'm glad I was able to find an idea that pleased me instead of going with whatever.
I'm so pleased to finally share my first six pages of original comic. ^///^ I know this is hardly new to several of you, but it's a fun first for me!! To be honest, I am rather disappointed I couldn't keep my ideal NaNo schedule, but it's difficult to argue with health reasons. (Ye gods, how I miss caffeine. T.T But...oh well. Live and learn!) I have a better idea of how much original comicking I can responsibly(!) handle along with my paid work, so I consider my NaNo project to already be a success. ^^V
And now, scene two is calling. Kyaa!!
