Shigoto update!

Some big changes have happened in regards to work, so I'll just dive in.

Claymore - I have script for vol 18, but the Japanse raw tiffs were sent at 2400 dpi, which is twice as much as they need to be. Now we're waiting for them to be resent at 1200 dpi. 2400 is overkill in the extreme, and I guess resizing them down to 1200 isn't going to work. Hmm. Anyway, can't start Clay just yet. I hope I'll still have the customary 8 weeks to letter, but that's doubful. I'll probably have to rush. *wince* Speaking of Clay, Clay Editor 3 had to pass the title on to someone else, so now I'm working for Clay Editor 4, who you've previously known as Naruto Editor 2 or Naruto GN editor. I'll miss CE3, because she was truly awesome. At least I know and have worked for CE4, though! Things won't be all awkward as we figure each other out. ^^V

Mistress Fortune - With great relief and joy, I am pleased to say uploaded the finished pages yesterday. The volume is DONE, praise be to the manga no kami! This volume was utter hell to letter, due to it being incredibly intricate with art and dilaogue crammed onto every page, and having to be lettered in short super-fast spurts whenever i had new script. I did manage to bring it in under deadline, a feat that I cannot stress is pretty damn good. It also looks awesome. Some of my best FX and touchup is in this volume. Even if you don't care for shoujo sparklies and massive bambi eyes, I hope you flip through it when the book is out. I consider this volume as my master work to date.

Naruto graphic novels - I finished volume 51's mag to GN conversion yesterday as well, though corrections are still waiting for me. Most of you don't know, but this is my final volume of Naruto GN conversion. The powers that be at Viz had a meeting a few weeks back and decided to speed up volume releases seemingly across the board. To keep up with the two titles of mine that were included in the fast-forward, I have to say goodbye to Foxy Boy and Angst Muffin GNs. But now that I won't be handling the constant GN conversion, I can hopefully letter more...

Naruto magazine chapters - I'm over half-way! Chapters 500-504 are lettered, and I'm about a third of the way through 505. 506 and 507 are still waiting for me. This 8 chapter stretch is just under a full volume's worth of chapters. I guesstimate my chapters will begin to appear in Jump in February or so. They'll likely be in GN volume 53 or 54, I think.

Natsume - I'm about 30 pages into vol 7! The series is turning a bit darker, though this vol has a cute bonus chapter that helps balance things out. ^^ Vol 4 is now available! Natsume is one of my titles whose release has been sped up. Instead of 4 volumes a year, you'll be getting six. Wheeee!

Saiunkoku - I'll be finishing vol 2 in the next few days, then awaiting corrections. Volume 1 will be out November 2nd! Yes, this is faster than usual. Saiun is the other one of my series that is being sped up to 6 volumes a year. I'm very glad this one is relatively easy to letter. Whew! As those of you who've watched the anime know, this series is filled with bishounen, yet my favorite characters are the three old men. ^^;;; I find that very amusing! Normally I'm all happy for the bishounen, but the sweet boys just aren't as interesting as the old geezers in this series. I love the way the ojiisans argue and snipe at each other. It's terribly fun! XD

Sakura Hime - Unfortunately I had to drop this series, so it is now the propery of a completely new letterer. This one was also sped up to 6 volumes a year from the previously scheduled 4, and I realized the total was just too much for me to handle. Thankfully, since it's a new series I had yet to start, the new letterer can do their own thing. They aren't taking the title over, it's completely theirs! My best wishes go out to whoever can now claim Sakura Hime. I hope they can give the series the time and focus it deserves. *salutes them*

Skip Beat - I'm about 30 pages into vol 23! Skip is still as fun as ever. I am particularly excited by this volume because (highlight for returning character name spoiler)  the creepily glorious Reino returns! OMG! *flail flail flail*

Last Friday, my local friend and wonderful comicking artist [livejournal.com profile] mcruthless  was kind enough to hang out in my place and preletter Natsume and Skip for me. She completed 47 pages in 10 hours, and was a real life-saver. ^^ Hopefully she can come back and help me out again sometime!! XD

That's it for this update. Everyone, be well!
