Bad slr2moons! Bad bad!

I was incredibly irresponsible today and went out for 5 hours to visit friends. Wahhhh!!! No way can I make my quota....but I really wanted to see them. Especially Kiokonai, since she'll be leaving for school in Hawaii in 1.5 weeks. *sniff* <:[

I met Kiokonai and her younger sister (who doesn't have a self-proclaimed Japanese name yet) at the local Japanese steakhouse. I mention this for two reasons. Curiously, we sat at the same grill as two couples on what must have been their prom date, since I doubt teenaged guys normally wear tuxedos. Especially one with a hot pink silk vest!! (Very brave boy...and yes, he matched his date.) Anyway, once the chef was doing his thing, we noticed that neither of the girls were eating. They sipped their drinks, while the boys ate the food. X_x Kiokonai, her little sister, and myself all quietly debated the possible reasons. We settled on the most likely being that old 1950s thing of the girls eating at home before their date begins so they won't binge and possibly gross out their chosen man, or somesuch. (Yes, it's lame. It was all we could come up with!) I told my mother about it later this evening, and she immediately proposed that the girls' dresses were probably too tight for them to risk eating. O_o I must admit, those dresses were rather close-fit. One mystery solved, I suppose.

Once I arrived home, I realized I had brought the scent of the restaurant with me. Disturbingly, I smell like cheap fast food frying oil. You know, that stale, fatty, dry scent you catch from burger joints. After I post this I'm definitely taking a shower, as if I have to smell this for much longer I'll become nauseous. ><

I have something cool to share. Don't let the hype below turn you away, give the video a try!! Link is after the aforementioned hype, which I only include for posterity and the odd bits of facts.

Hype: And you thought those people that set up roomfuls of dominos to knock over were amazing. There are no computer graphics or digital tricks in the film. Everything you see really happened in real time exactly as you see it. The film took 606 takes. On the first 605 takes, something, usually very minor, didn't work. They would then have to set the whole thing up again. The film cost six million dollars and took three months to complete, including full engineering of the sequence. In addition, it's two minutes long, so every time Honda airs the film on British television, they're shelling out enough dough to keep any one of us in clover for a lifetime. However, it is fast becoming the most downloaded advertisement in Internet history. Honda executives figure the ad will soon pay for itself simply in "free viewings" (Honda isn't paying a dime to have you watch this commercial online!). When the ad was pitched to senior executives, they signed off on it immediately without any hesitation - including the costs. There are six and only six hand-made Honda Accords in the world. To the horror of Honda engineers, the filmmakers disassembled two of them to make the film. Everything you see in the film (aside from the walls, floor ramp, and complete Honda Accord) is parts from those two cars. The voiceover is Garrison Keillor. When the ad was shown to Honda executives, they liked it and commented on how amazing computer graphics have gotten. They fell off their chairs when they found out it was for real. Oh, and about those funky windshield wipers. On the new Accords, the windshield wipers have water sensors and are designed to start doing their thing automatically as soon as they become wet.

Link: ehhhh, sugeee da yo ne!

And something funny to share, courtesy of metaquotes: beware the fanged yeti feet!!

On the reading front, the great Harry Potter reread in preparation for book 7 continues, since I began volume 5 today. I rather like volume 5, particularly the DA meetings, Neville's improvement, and Luna. Luna is fabulous. But I can't STAND Umbridge. JK Rowling did a great job creating a character I love to hate. I wonder what those furious centaurs did to her at the very end....
