slr2moons | "If Only..." Vampirates Doujinshi, part 2 of 3

Minna, I am pleased to bring you the 2nd installment of my Vampirates doujinshi: pages 3 and 4. I actually finished them about a week ago, but I wanted to wait a bit to post. ^^ I'm rather nervous about this set, since they include the most popular character from the series, Murphy. He has some rather ~~scary~~ devoted fangirls. Heh heh heh. ^^;; I really hope they like my extra bishounen version. *fidgets*

Title: If Only...
Rating: PG-13 for suggestive themes.
Genre: gender switch AU, comedy BL/slash. The first page is still safe for any who might want to see my stuff but want to avoid teh gay.
Length: pages 3 and 4 of 6-page set.
NOTE: reads right to left, like manga from Japan, 'cuz I still like it that way. ^^

Technical info: Sketched in Photoshop, then inked and toned in Deleter ComicWorks. Back to Photoshop for type and final tweaks. Originals are at 600 dpi. Artistic influences are Jones (the creator of Vampirates), Nakamura Yoshiki, Yazawa Ai, and Tanemura Arina. And Matsuri Hino also has some influence this time, on page 3.

Page 3 notes: This page has given me the most trouble of all of them, which is saying quite a bit. Panel 1 completely changed from my draft version, as it simply did NOT work in hard line. (You other artists will know what I mean--when something looks great in sketch form but falls apart and is just ugly in in final line no matter what you do. Yeah, that. Nrrgh.) So I completely redrew it. :P My toning in panel 1 is rather unusual. I've always thought anime-style images where the background shows through as shading on characters looks very cool, so I tried that here. ^^V I added the lines for shading to help Clyde stand out. I rather like it!!! XD Clyde's hair reflects my experience drawing in Hino Matsuri style for the VK giftpic. Speakig of hair... MURPHY'S HAIR. *screams* I spent FOUR DAYS on Murphy's hair, and I'm still not satisfied. I have a long way to go inking black hair, but at least I'm getting there. It shall be a long and arduous journey, most definitely. I had a bit of fun with his FX, at least! I couldn't resist drawing it in Evil Skip FX style. Heeee. :D

Page 4 notes: Chibis! KYAA!!!! X3 This page has been the easiest so far--even Murphy's hair only took me about three hours. (At least I'm getting faster, right?) I nailed Hassan's hair on the 2nd try. ^^V I love how the bed sheet turned out on this page. You can really see the Nakamura-sensei influence here, as I admire Skip chibis! They're cute but still expressive. The mitten-style hands are especially effective. Jan! I placed the bump of sheet over Murphy's backside because it seemed unfair for Hassan and Clyde to always be covered, but not Murphy. So I threw him a bone. :P (If any of the Vampirates boys are going to flash us, it'll be my own personal fave, Hassan. Rowr!)
