slr2moons: a self-portrait, of me in my usual habitat: in front of my computer monitors! (Hassan Dance)

Minna, I am pleased to bring you the 3rd and final installment of my Vampirates doujinshi: pages 5 and 6. I've managed to earn several new readers since I posted the 2nd batch, and I hope those seeing this for the first time will enjoy my artwork. You can find the posts for pages 1-4 by using the Vampirates-If Only tag.

Title: If Only...
Rating: PG-13 for suggestive themes.
Genre: gender switch AU, comedy BL/slash.
Length: pages 5 and 6 of 6-page set.
NOTE: reads right to left, which apparently makes me a weeaboo. Ask me if I care. (For me, left to right is backwards, mmkay?)

Gimme pics!! XD )

Like the subject says, I'm no longer in Work Hell! Nana 19, Clay 15, and Natsume 1 are all finished, and Naruto 46 and Skip 20 are both under control. I'm already a few pages into Nana 20 and prelettering Skip 21. Planning ahead DOES work! In the works of one of my fave Disney songs, "Be prepaaaaaared!"

[ETA: Bwhahahahaha!! XD XD I did it to myself with this post. Just heard from Temp Naruto Editor and I need to try to finish Naruto 46 by tomorrow afternoon. 30 pages in a day and a half. HAHAHA!!! THis is what you get for speaking to soon, stupid! *smacks herself in the face* Okay, I really need to hit it. CAFFEINE!!!!! GRAAAA!!!  /eta]

I have good news! Now that all 5 of my titles are slow and intermittent (especially Clay, which is now only twice a year) I can officially handle a 6th title! Lucky for me, I timed it just right and bagged a great one with Shoujo Editor #3. It's actually two separate titles that she happens to want lettered by the same person. I can't reveal names or even the mangaka, but I'm excited! I should begin the first book in about 3 months. This means it's time for two new tags: New Title 5 and New Title 6! (I have to count on my fingers to keep all the New Title identities straight. :B )

my doujinshi, a Deleter ComicWorks bug, Watchmen--slight spoilers--and my current audio book )
That's it for today. Work calls!!
slr2moons: a self-portrait, of me in my usual habitat: in front of my computer monitors! (caffeine)
Oh yeah, it's Wednesday. I need to post. *blank expression*

I'm a half-zombie, which means I'm not at 100% but not fighting to stay sane, either. Meh. I've been listless and without focus the past few days. Yesterday I did no prelettering, instead I read fanfic in between Naruto pages. (I've discovered the joys of South Park slash. Yes, you heard me. And ew, no! They're teenagers in the fics.) Today I was a good girl and did corrections for Natsume 1.2, since SE2 sent them to me late yesterday. I finished half of them, then watched the South Park movie for the 2nd time in my life. (Those songs are so catchy. I now have "What would Brian Boitano Do?" stuck in my head. :P I really want to draw SP fanart, bishounen style. *giggle* Not that I have the time for that.

Speaking of fanart, my lovely artist friend Lexi drew a portrait of my elf self! XD You can see the shiny here in her DA acount. I'm working on a reciprocal pic, and I'm using it to practice the things I need to work on, like dramatic lighting and clothes. :B *is trying to improve*

In regards to work, today I turned in the first half of Naruto 46. The 2nd half has even MORE fighting (urgh), but thankfully I have a little longer to do this half of the conversion. Yay. Unfortunately, this half has color pages. The color pages have been lettered for the magazine by someone else, but I can't use the mag version for the GN. The reason is DPI. Color digital files at 300 dpi. The Japanese color pages have been turned into b/w ones at the standard 1200 dpi. So dragging the FX from lettered mag color page to unlettered GN b/w page doesn't work, since they're 4x too small. Thus, I'm lettering the color pages 100% all-new. Wheee! Just like old times!!

An amusing Naruto observation, spoilers for around vol 42. )

I did make it to my book club meeting, much to my joy. I even found out one of the key members reads FMA. Yay! It's nice to know I don't have to defend my passion to everyone. :D

Speaking of which, my doujinshi is coming along. I've been chipping away at it here and there. I'm working on the final page at last, which I'm surprised to say has been the easiest for me so far, though it's the most complicated of the lot! I must be gaining confidence, proficiency, and speed. Yay again! I'm almost finished with the inking, not counting everyone's hair. *wince*

My mind just blanked, so I'll take that as my cue to depart. See ya next Wed!

slr2moons: a self-portrait, of me in my usual habitat: in front of my computer monitors! (GaaLee)

Kyaa! Today I finished the last difficult page in Clay 15. And tomorrow I will finish the last difficult page in Natsume 1. So unless I've vastly underrated some Yellow pages on my key sheets for those two books, it should be smooth sailing for them! Which of course means now I have to tackle more Orange Dot to Pink pages in Skip 20 and Nana 19. Eh heh heh. --; (If you have no idea what I mean with the colors and key sheet references, this post will explain it.)

The other reason to celebrate is truly geeky! I am proud to say that I have earned my first watcher on Deviant Art who I do NOT know  elsewhere! This means someone liked my art enough to decide to keep an eye on me for more! OH YEAH!! *does happy dance* My watchers before this new person were all LJ or IRL friends. I have earned my first purely-for-art watcher at last!! XD It's the doujinshi that did it, BTW. I know 'cause she favorited two pages. Eeeeeheehee!! X3

Oh yes, and Spicer-kitty's diet is working! He's lost half a pound. ^^ (Would that it were so easy for me to do the same!)

That is all. I just wanted to share my joy and give a more substantial post today than the personality test meme. :B

Minna, I am pleased to bring you the 2nd installment of my Vampirates doujinshi: pages 3 and 4. I actually finished them about a week ago, but I wanted to wait a bit to post. ^^ I'm rather nervous about this set, since they include the most popular character from the series, Murphy. He has some rather scary devoted fangirls. Heh heh heh. ^^;; I really hope they like my extra bishounen version. *fidgets*

Title: If Only...
Rating: PG-13 for suggestive themes.
Genre: gender switch AU, comedy BL/slash. The first page is still safe for any who might want to see my stuff but want to avoid teh gay.
Length: pages 3 and 4 of 6-page set.
NOTE: reads right to left, like manga from Japan, 'cuz I still like it that way. ^^

Gimme pics!! XD )

Hair--a challenge for s2m to render prettily. )

On work news, I'll finish Nana 18 tomorrow, three weeks early. Since I already have script and tiffs for 19, I'll just dive right in. No news on Skip 20 or Clay 15, but I'm sure they're coming. Natsume, the new title, is progressing nicely. I don't have a logo yet, but I'm almost through with the first chapter. This title really is more simple than Honey and Captive. It's slightly less complicated, BUT! The FX are almost all black scribbles. Seriously. Honey and Captive made me switch styles constantly--black scribbles, black block, white block, pattern scribbles, white block half-filled with pattern, calligraphy-style. vibratey, jagged, etc etc etc. Not so with Natsume. Hmm.

Fangirl break: my Japanese tanko of Natsume vol 1 has an obi about the anime. And KYAAA!! X3 Ishida Akira-sama is in it!!! Kyaaa kyaa!!! I've been downloading the series without watching for fear of spoilers, but you can bet I'm going to keep an ear out for my fave seiyuu once I fire it up. *swoons into his sexy voice*

Ah, the price of civilization... )

The rest of page 3 calls!!! WHAT am I going to do with the background....?? ( Backgrounds: something else I suck at and thus avoid.) Drawing scenery is boooooring....

EDIT to fix my math, which is also not something I'm too great at. Nrrgh.
slr2moons: a self-portrait, of me in my usual habitat: in front of my computer monitors! (D'awwww so kyooooot!!)
For the past three days, I've been stymied on page 3 of my Vampirates doujinshi. Panel 1 just was NOT working. X| It looked great on my rough sketch, but in any cleaner form? NO. *headdesk* Yesterday I gave up on it and decided to skip to panel 2, which cooperated better. I was still frustrated and tired from panel 1's trials, though, so after banging out a quick cleaner rough of 2, I called it a night and watched four eps of anime instead. :P

anime musings, no spoilers of any kind! )
One of my editors emailed me and commented that she was in Tokyo right then. ........ -->I<-- want to blithely state that I'm in Japan. *affects breezy accent* "Oh, you'll have to wait until I'm back home. I'm in Tokyo at the moment, daaaahling.." Nuffair. *sulks*

Tonight I fired up Deleter to tackle page 3 again. I didn't even look at panel 1, just went straight to 2. One of the benefits of having a huge mirror as my closet door is I can do my own poses, though it means I sometimes have to draw left-handed. Like tonight. There I was, with my shirt off, posing in front of the mirror and trying my best to look manly--I must say I failed miserably. I'm such a weenie girl. :P~~ But it's easy to add muscle to the pic, so no big deal. (Once I stopped laughing at myself and could draw again, of course.) After panel 2 was complete, I had took another stab at panel1. I decided to start over with a completely different angle, and it worked!!! I was my own model again. Thankfully, since Clyde is a stick, I can model for him without too much trouble. Heh. I have to take away flesh instead of add it. After I post this, I plan to do a bit more cleaning up on the pencils. Hopefully tomorrow I can ink it!! XD

I'm pleased with the response to the first two pages. X3 I especially wanted to hear from the mangaka, and she DID comment! Yes, I squeed. A great deal!! I admit it! I'm a fangirl through and through!!! *plops on her Offical Geek hat* I want to finish the next two pages as soon as I can. X3

Oh, and even with stymie-ing panels that refuse to play nicely, drawing my own manga is definitely a blast. ^^ I wish I'd started doing this years ago!
slr2moons: a self-portrait, of me in my usual habitat: in front of my computer monitors! (Hassan Dance)

Here it is, minna! The first two pages of my 6-page practice doujinshi, done for the awesome webcomic Vampirates. I can find no more to obsess over in these pics....and I really need to stop obsessively tweaking anyway. It took me a year to make it this far. Even granting several bouts of Work Hell, and my 2,000 mile move, and giving the previous post's giftpic priority, it took me much too long to finish. I'm gonna have to work on my speed. T.T *headdesk* Another goal to meet!

Deleter ComicWorks review revisited )

The spark of inspiration for this doujinshi hit me almost a year ago when I had Vampirates on the brain and tried to take a nap. Obviously this was before the truth about a certain character was revealed, which thoroughly Jossed my idea. T.T But I liked my story too much to change it, so my doujinshi is officially AU. Ah well!!!

Title: If Only...
Rating: PG-13 for suggestive themes and (in-character) use of the F-bomb.
Genre: gender switch AU, comedy BL/slash. The first page is safe for any who might want to see my stuff but want to avoid teh gay.
Length: first two pages of 6-page set.
NOTE: reads right to left, like manga from Japan, 'cuz I like it that way. ^^

That guy dancing in my icon?? He's in this. X3

Gimme pics!! XD )
slr2moons: a self-portrait, of me in my usual habitat: in front of my computer monitors! (angst)

Whew! I just posted the 2nd chapter of 1s2w to Luna and the Pit, which means I no longer have to think about for a month or two. YAY! The final version can be found on Luna and the Pit. This is step two for preserving my sanity in the next couple of months.

So why my angsty icon then, if I just accomplished something good?? Because the latest Shippuuden eps--the two part ep 50 and 51 special--just Jossed my comedy doujinshi. X| I had this really cool and fast fight scene all roughed out, and now it's not canon because Sasuke is such a special snowflake and has a sooper speshul sword that can't be blocked with a kunai knife. Or likely with anything. Mattaku MO!!! *fumes quietly in the corner*

Now I have to figure out a different way for the fight scene to happen, b/c the sword-block was the focal point of the whole thing. *uses colorful language* And I had Naruto pose all sexily while he was holding his kunai, too. T.T Maybe he can use it to attack Sasuke's arm instead....or feint him out and duck in close for some skin contact or something. Grrrmph. *resumes tending her mushrooms in the corner while mourning the loss of her fight scene*

Clay 13 is coooommmiiinggggg....sometime this week, I'm sure. Heh heh heh. O.o

I wonder if any of my fanfic readers would believe the reason I'm so busy that it takes me months between updates...probably not. :P I wouldn't tell them anyway.

slr2moons: a self-portrait, of me in my usual habitat: in front of my computer monitors! (shades)

Today during breakfast, instead of reading or watching tv, I rewrote the middle and end of my aforementioned comedy doujinshi. It's much stronger now, and is more than a one-gag-book. BTW, foreplay and innuendo are lots of fun! *wink*

And on that amusing note, here's a short meme I ganked from [livejournal.com profile] stariceling who ganked it from one of her friends. I only expect star-chan to reply, but it would be great if anyone else wants to give it a stab!

The thing is, when people look for stories, they always make it sound like badfic. Now, often that's because it really is badfic, but sometimes it's good and they just suck at describing the story. So, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to summarize badly any one (or more!) of my stories and I'll try to guess which it is. You could even pretend you don't remember the pairing or fandom to make it harder to guess.

So come on, minna! Render one of my stories into a badfic-style summary and I'll try to guess it! This was loads of fun when I did to to one of Star-chan's fics. ^^V Don't be shy! You can find the complete list of my posted fic in my profile. *poke poke*
