slr2moons: a self-portrait, of me in my usual habitat: in front of my computer monitors! (caffeine)

I've been noticing Utena can get quite sluggish lately, and has been freezing after I close processing-heavy programs, like Adobe Acrobat Reader. Even Word has been making things interesting. Then this evening, when Utena was being particularly slow, an error message popped up about my tablet driver. Reboot or Uninstall.

Kore wa yokunai.

You see, a fellow artist and good friend of mine has been having extreme computer problems ever since she installed her own Wacom tablet last fall, which is the same model as mine. Blue Screen of Death and missing files galore. I'd wondered if the same thing would happen to me and Anthy, but thought all was well...until that error message popped up. I immediately went ohsnap to the Wacom site, downloaded the newest version of proper driver (updated Sept '07), uninstalled the driver already on Anthy (the one that came with the installation CD) and rebooted. I've installed the new version of the driver, but I haven't plugged Anthy back in yet b/c I'm afraid.

I've been backing up files instead. This is something I do maybe four or five times a year, and I need to fix that. I keep intending to burn anime to DVD for hard drive space, and I have an exterior hard drive that I can transfer my various art projects and writings and whatnot to for backup purposes. Unfortunately, I tend to get stuck in a work work work rut and stuff like this falls by the wayside.

I have encountered driver problems like this in the past, with programs or hardware that get fussy, but a new driver download and reinstall has always solved the problem before. *knocks on wood* Hopefully it will work this time, too. Wish me, Utena, and Anthy luck, minna.

Oh yes, and last night I lettered 11 Naruto pages. Still no Clay script. O.o

edited to fix my Japanese: the perils of being self-taught. Iyadaa moooo....
