slr2moons: a self-portrait, of me in my usual habitat: in front of my computer monitors! (shinjirarenai...)
My internet connection today on Usagi was terrible, and Tsukushi couldn't find her when I went to open pages saved on her for work. So I poked around my network settings on Usagi and finally realized I was using someone else's wireless connection. O.o Not sure how that happened!!  I stumbled around with Usagi's settings, rebooted her, and finally managed to get her to log in to MY wireless connection, as noted on my sparkly-lights connection thing as given to me by Verizon. I'm pleased to say my connection is nice and fast again!

But the thing is, I've noticed that one network name on my connection info for WEEKS. It just never sunk in that it wasn't what it was supposed to be: namely the boring combination of letters and numbers stamped on my aforementioned connecting thing. The really embarrassing note is...in those weeks I was unknowingly borrowing someone else's connection, I've downloaded hundreds of megs of torrents, work files, and watched several hours of my fave tv shows. OOPS. *looks guiltily around* I'm sorry!!! I didn't know I was stealing net from you, whoever you are!!!!!!!!! *facepalm* And why isn't your network password protected?!?!?!? DUH!!!!!!

Hey, now I'm using my connection again, this means my torrent downloads will be perky once more! They've been suffering for weeks.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: do check to make sure any wireless connections you are using are actually your own. Unless you intend on using someone else's, of course. I can't believe I am so unobservant! *headdesk*
