Sometimes I wonder...
16/3/09 22:16Those of you who have been reading this LJ for a while know how rare it is for me to post art. I simply don't have the time for non-work things. ^^;; Yet here I've made two art posts within days of each other!! How was this possible? First the boring reason, namely I've been chipping away at both the giftpic and those two doujinshi pages for months. Second, the work-related reason: I've had only Nana to letter since I finished burning through Naruto 45.
This extremely unusual situation arose b/c...1. Captive was finished. 2. Honey was finished. 3. Skip 20 isn't ready for me to begin, 4. Clay 15 isn't ready either, and 5. Natsume (the new title) was ALSO not ready. So I've been lettering as many as 15 pages of Nana 18 a day. The first half of the book is due on Wed, and here I'm about 20 pages away from finishing the whole volume. :O This left me with a couple hours a day for my sorely neglected artwork.
I have to admit that I've been struggling with doubts about this huge amount (for me...) of free time. I mean, I could easily handle a 6th title right now. I passed up on one easy title with SE4, and then one also easy title with SE3 that I reeeeeeeeeeely wanted to do (OMG so badly...), and agonized about taking for a week, yet finally passed on. *sniffle* The thing is, I knew and know that all this extra time I had wasn't going to last. Natsume was coming, and since it's out to at least vol 5 in Japan, we'll be playing catch-up for a good year. That means constant lettering on the series. And Skip 20 is coming in a couple weeks, and Clay 15. And then Naruto 46, wich will have to be done as frantically as 45. *turns a bit green* It's highly likely that in a month, I'll have four simultaneous titles again.
So I've resisted asking my editors if they have another title for me, and I've been lettering Nana like mad to get ahead as much as possible. Which is good, because script for Natsume arrived today. ^^ Time to dive into my newest tile!!!
To sum up this post: Self control--I has it. (Sometimes.) :PI will always regret passing on that awesome title with SE3... Oh yeah, and Natsume is here at last. ^^V
