Hi, everyone! Finally FINALLY took my laptop (named Minako) to the computer doctor. Minako hasn't been able to DL a Windows update for ~3 years. The progress bar just sits there at 0% for hours. Without being able to update, I couldn't install Photoshop or InDesign, which are the main programs I need for work. (Hence why I borrowed Mab's MacBook and drawing tablet last December when I visited TX for a week.)

Computer doc said Windows needs to be reloaded on Minako to fix it, and a solid state hard drive to replace the old-school spinning one. Also it's $50 cheaper for him to upgrade to Windows 10 from its current Windows 7. I'm very glad I saved nothing important on her, b/c it's ALL going. Pretty much format C:/, right?

This means I have no drawing tablet to use with Minako. Not until I buy a new one that works with Win10. But I can still do basic work on the go. Renaming pages, simple speck cleaning, placing the pages into InDesign, and adding the text.

It will be nice to have a mobile workplace again. ^^ And I'll say this for Adobe's irritating subscription model for their programs: I can install Photoshop and everything else without having to worry about buying the newest versions! :P~~~

Oh hey...if I do buy a new tablet for Minako (named "Artemis", of course), then I could install Illustrator w/o having to worry if I've cleaned enough space of my work computer (Shetan). Something to think about! :D

Hi, everyone!

Sorry I dropped off the map again. I had to scramble to finish Behind the Scenes vol 7. I was behind. WAY behind. The most I've ever BEEN behind. It was a powerful reminder of why I create a daily page quota, and why I need to stick to it. *face palm*

I go through stages of work hell. First, when I have the most energy reserves, I stop streaming movies and tv shows, and instead I listen to audiobooks and podcasts. This round of work hell, I listened to three audiobooks and IDK how many hours of podcasts. When my attention starts to wander from pure audio, I switch to watching/listening to documentaries. Docus are good because they usually have narration. I don't have to keep my eye on the screen to catch important details, I can just listen and work. I watched 11 documentaries, mostly on Amazon. Third, I switch to standup. Standup is good because it makes me laugh, which increases my energy level and keeps me working. And finally, the last stage is comfort shows. Namely, MASH and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. These are shows that I have watched so many times I have them memorized, and that make me feel happy and safe and reduce stress. Thus, I can work.

This bought of work hell, I skipped the standup stage and went straight to MLP. I watched four episodes as I struggled to finish the book. Which I did. Thankfully.

I spent most of Tuesday and Wednesday asleep, and a bit of Thursday, too. I appear to be recovered. ^^ Now I need to start my next two books, which are Skip 43 and a new title's volume 1.

I hope all of you are doing well, and are able to avoid your own bouts of work hell! *hugs*

I can't think of what to talk about today. Too brain dead, maybe? But to keep from missing a day, here's where I am in lettering manga:

Behind the Scenes (Urakata!!) by Bisco Hatori: in the middle of volume 7, the final volume.

Chainsaw Man by Fujimoto Tatsuki: I'll be lettering chapter 19 this weekend. (This one runs a chapter a week, rather than in volume chunks. IDK if a volume release will eventually follow, but I wouldn't mind. C: )

Natsume's Book of Friends (Natsume Yuujinchou) by Midorikawa Yuki: finished volume 23 about a month ago. Series still ongoing.

Requiem of the Rose King (Bara Ou no Souretsu) by Kanno Aya: finished volume 10 right after the new year. Series still ongoing.

Seraph of the End (Owari no Serafu) by Kagami, Yamamoto, and Furuya: I'll be starting volume 17 in a few weeks. Series ongoing for a bit longer; we're definitely in the endgame. I'll also be lettering chapter 78 in a few weeks. This one first appears in English in monthly chapters, then a volume release follows about a year later.

Skip Beat by Nakamura Yoshiki: I'll be starting volume 43 in a few weeks. Still ongoing, and I've lettered every single volume. This is by far my longest-running title. C:

New Title #N: I'll be starting this one in a few weeks, too. It's going to be a busy spring and summer!

Series I finished last year: After Hours by Nishio Yuhta, ended at volume 3. Bloody Mary by Samamiya Akaza, ended at volume 10. Build King by Shimabukuro Mitsutoshi, a oneshot chapter that appeared in Shonen Jump magazine. COMIQ by Takahashi Suzuki, a short seven-chapter series that also appeared in the magazine. Again, IDK if a volume release will happen, but it is the perfect length. C:

The insanity is sort of over! I finished Clay vol 10 on Sunday, New title v2 on Monday, and I will finally clear my Naruto v25 and Skip v10 backlogs to be completely 100% caught up tonight. Ohhhhh yeah! XD *runs in giddy circles*

Yes, it's another long post. But this time I'm not ranting. ^^ Yakusoku yo!!

In light of my last introspective bit of blogging, I'm seriously considering drawing out the opening scene of my movie in manga format. This would accomplish several things, namely requiring me to chose a character design, practice drawing icky boring backgrounds and buildings, settle on pacing, and most importantly--finally figure out the graphic style I want.

My artistic mind is obsessing... )

I have most excellent news: the English is 4/5ths done. All that's left are corrections. So yay!! Indeed, if my mind weren't so preoccupied with my movie and it's about time, I would be dancing around my room. I'll hold the true celebration when the corrections are finished and the last English issue will finally be 100% OVER.

On my last fun outing several weeks ago when I went manga shopping with Yuumei, she told me about the series "Loveless" and talked me into buying it. I picked up the first two volumes.

manga reflections with very very mild spoilers )

It's been days since my last manga report, so I have quite a bit to list. Wheee!

I'll organize it this time... )

I think I've babbled enough tonight. *checks clock* It's Thursday!!! Naruto Shippuuden #4 is almost here...*drools* Bless the fansubbers who let me watch episodes a mere half-day from when they first air in Japan...
