Yes, today is my birthday, and I celebrated with two of my favorite things: a visit from my wonderful IRL friend Kiokonai, and a box of books from my oneesan. XD
I took Saturday off from work and prowled Portland with Kiokonai, hitting the Saturday Market, standing in line for 45 min at Voodoo Doughnuts (mine was yummy), and finally rode the streetcar loop. X3 We also hit Powells, of course. And Uwajimaya, where I drooled over the import manga (Natsume is out to vol 8 in Japan), purchased lychee ice cream, strawberry Calpico, and my first bottle of sake ever. I chose a smallish one b/c it was priced on the higher end for its size... but mostly b/c it had a pretty bottle. :D (I still prefer plum wine, but I'll drink the bottle. Slowly, over several months.)
I did buy one book from the Beaverton Powells: a CJ Cherryh omnibus of her Faded Sun trilogy. She is one of the authors I respect the most, as she can weave the most amazingly intricate plots. I've never read this set of books by her, and hey, $5 for three books? YES PLEASE! X3
Today, my actual birthday, I'm chipping away at work on Tsukushi (my one day off was Saturday), and reading fanfic on Usagi. I woke up at 3:45 AM to return Kiokonai to the airport. She could only stay for 1 full day, but it was great to see her!
And since most of you are here for my professional work, Clay 16 is supposed to arrive tomorrow. Wheeeee! I'd better pull out the hachimaki in preparation. *stalwart smiles*I swear it feels like I just finished Clay 15 last month...
