slr2moons: a self-portrait, of me in my usual habitat: in front of my computer monitors! (zombie)
I've been a complete zombie for the past two days. I don't even want to think how far behind I am with the quota. It's always difficult for me to get into the groove of Work Hell, and this bout is no exception. Oooog. Yesterday I ended up reading my new three volumes of Hikaru no Go (OMG so cute) and today I finally updated my ficrecs page, which I haven't touched since May. :P

I added one Bleach fic, one Ed, Edd, n Eddie fic, 7 HP fics (pretty much all the remaining WIPs I'm following...) one KKM fic, and one Naruto. A big update. Now almost all of my bookmarked fics are listed, so I'll have to rely on new discoveries for additions. I was pleased to see my hits counter was up to 37! Last time I checked it was back in early May, when it was at 15. So yay! People are using my site! XD Of course, it could be one person hitting refresh every other day, but let us remain hopeful.

I told a newish manga-loving internet friend what I do for a living, and she hasn't written me back. :| She always replied within 12 hours before, and now it's been over 24, so I'm becoming paranoid. This is why I'm so careful about who I tell...unless they have no interest in manga, in which case it's no big deal and I don't have to hide it. *sighs* I hope she isn't freaked out or anything.

One of the reasons I'm a zombie is b/c I decided to finally face it and tweak my Clay FX alphabets. All through vol 13 I kept tweaking letters as I used them. Straightening edges, filling in tiny holes, checking symmetry, that type of thing. Every time a letter appeared big enough for the problems to be noticeable, I fixed it. It was so frustrating, I decided I'd repair my whole alphabet once Work Hell was over. But then W.H. WAS over, but I never followed through. So now here I am, tweaking letters as I go with vol 14. This is why I've only done three Clay pages so far, when it should be 8. *cries* Maybe I'll have to pick and chose which letters and FX to really repair instead of just clean up. If I have the time, tweak them. if I don't, don't. *cries some more*

To save time, I'm not printing any Clay pages in this vol for my final proofing. I did the same thing with vol 10 way back when and didn't print a single sheet. I'm cutting back on printing my other titles, too. I'll only print of it's dialogue heavy or contains something I feel I need to have hard copy on for quick reference. IE: "how did I position the words on that sign in the background again? What font did I use here?" That type of thing.

I'd better be able to kick the zombie status when I wake up tomorrow, or I'll be reeeeely screwed in regards to the quota. T.T Will going to bed early help, I wonder? *wanders off, muttering*

Whew. ^^; Yesterday wasn't the best day ever--far from it, in fact--but I did accomplish one very very good thing: I finished all the orange and pink pages from Naruto 35. Thankfully the volume is quite light for fight scenes--particularly for Naruto--and now they are done and out of the way. *sigh of relief* Now I'm making a 2nd sweep through the book, this time working on the pure yellow pages. This will only leave yellow/green (dialogue and one or two simple FX), green (dialogue only) and blue (speck checks and page numbers) left. Step One to preserve insantiy: complete.

As a side note, the good thing about Naruto is that once I finish a volume, I don't have another one waiting in the sidelines to jump in. Okay, except for this time, since I still have the 2nd half of 38 left to finish. I've also noticed that the action in Naruto really has calmed down. My two worst books were 21 and 25. In the late 20s and 30s, there's a lot of plot going on. Not that I mind, I'd much rather letter read plot than fight scenes. ^^ Or maybe Naruto Editor is giving the action-heavy books to the regular Naruto letterer. If that's the case, let us hope he's kust trying to preserve my sanity as well. ^^

Sai is so cute in vol 35. He gets points for trying!!! Heeeee.

And now, something more fun! For quite some time I've wanted to start a page of fanfic recs, and I finally have. I started coding the page back in February, and have added random fics every few days or so. I've decided it's long enough to go up, so here is the link!

S2m's page of fanfic recs! Kyaaa!

It's not anywhere near complete, so don't freak out if a fic you thought for sure would be on there hasn't made it yet. I have two more I will include in a bit, namely Diplomatic Relations from Naruto, and my fave fic by star-chan. ^^ I stuck a counter on the page, so it will be interesting to see how many hits I get in the first week. Maybe 10??? *is being realistic*

That's it for now, minna. Work calls, as always!
