I just started the GN conversion for Naruto vol 45. I don't have the changes yet between mag and GN, but I'm hoping it's a safe gamble I won't have to go back and change too much. I've pre-lettered through page 12, and my comment in my previous post was right: I am completely lost! XD And also... SPOILERS LIEK WHOA!!! *headdesk* Since when did THIS happen, guys?? *pokes the characters in question* You all look so weird!! Kishimoto-sensei, you have some 'splainin' to do...

I won't get much use out of the tag for New Title 4, since the license was announced by Viz at the big anime con that just happened last weekend in New York. So, minna! The true identity for New Title 4 is....*drumroll*

Natsume's Book of Friends! aka Natsume Yuuchinchou. *applauds* I should begin lettering sometime around the Ides of March. A large portion of the FX in this book are creepy in the traditional Japanese sense, meaning wavery black ink hiragana. Mimicing that style for their English equivalents will be very good practice for me and my calligraphy skills. Ohh yeah! XD

Now guys, a quick request. I know some of you read scanlations of my titles the moment they are available from Japan, and some (like me) watch anime eps the same way. But not everyone who reads this blog does so. I formally request that when you comment about something fresh from Japan, or something where the English release is far behind the Japanese one (Natsume, for example), you do not say anything spoilery. If you do--and I'd rather you avoid it--please warn for it and place it in white type. If you don't, then I'm going to screen your comment so you won't spoil anyone who might see it. And I'll probably shake my finger at you, too.

So if you decide to guess what I'm frantic about in my bit of Naruto freakout above, please don't. Okay?? If I had learned these two particular spoilers outside of work, I would have been PISSED. Please be considerate and remember not everyone can or wants to be on top of things from Japan. Sankyuu.

Back to work for me. After I have a few more days of Naruto conversion under my belt, I'll tell you guys how it's going. ^^V

Imagine my surprise when I checked my email this morning and saw someone asking about my Arslan Senki scanlation. Whoa! I haven't received en email for my scanlations in about 3 years. My my my. *is caught up in the memories* I need to buy a new scanner, then maybe I could pick Arslan and Zetsuai up again. And add Sailor V to the mix as well, since I'm translating it anyway for fic purposes! :P

Oh yes, I changed my journal layout. I chose a writing theme that reminds me of manga artists, mostly b/c of the bottle of ink and the classic-style nib pen. :3 I had hoped this would prevent the ugly blue default layout from appearing whenever I hit "reload" on my journal, but NO. If you ever do see that blue layout, it isn't supposed to be there. I wish livejournal would fix that. It certainly isn't addressed in their FAQ!

The first tanko of New Title 4 arrived today. X3 SE2 was quite correct in describing the art style as similar to Honey! On the difficulty level, it appears equal to Skip, which is fine by me. I'll know more after I make the key sheet. This title will preview in Shojo Beat and go directly to book form, like Skip, Captive, and Wanted did.

Oh yes, and rememeber my Gollum impersonation?? I bought it. :D Arrived Saturday. Muwahahahha!!!  *rubs hands together in much anticipation*

I just finished the last two pages of Honey vol 10, which means the series is officially over for me. Oh sure, I still have corrections, but the real task of lettering is done.

I'm trying to decide how I feel about that. )
Honey and Clover, by Umino Chica. Vols 1-10, licensed by Viz, lettered by yours truly. Currently serialized two chapters a time in the monthly mag Shojo Beat. Books and mag available only in the US and Canada. I hope that all of you at least flip through a volume if you ever have the chance. I worked very hard on Honey, and it would be wonderful if you would take a peek at my efforts. :3

Ja, mina! The rest of my daily quota awaits. *salutes*

Osu, minna!

Through the 2nd half of 2007 and all of 2008, I was lettering 6 titles more often than not. (Captive, Clay, Honey, Nana, Naruto, Skip, and Wanted in various combinations). Those of you who've been reading my blog for a while know that I almost lost it several times during repeated sessions of Work Hell. Six titles is just too many. Even five titles is verrrrry difficult. Thus, I have arrived at what I hope will be my lucky number: 4. (Which I find amusing since 4 is the unlucky number in Japan. Heh.)

As I've mentioned in previous posts, Honey will be coming to an end in January, and Captive around March. That would leave me with my regular titles of Claymore, Nana, and Skip. Room for one more!

Last Friday, Shoujo Editor 2 contacted me about a title to replace Honey. Of course I can't say the name nor identify the mangaka, but it sounded cool and a little different. Another shoujo series, but similar to Honey in that it isn't your standard story and artwork style. It's also still being published in Japan with no end in sight, like my three staple titles. After seeing some scans, I accepted. Thus, my newest tag: New Title 4.

Today, SE4 contacted me about one of her new titles to ask if I could letter it, but I stuck to my guns and passed. T.T It was painful--the artwork was so pretty, and OMG bishounen EVERYWHERE--but I resisted. Four titles will hopefully keep me in food and my apartment, while giving me enough spare time to get to work on my original manga. No, I haven't forgotten it!

So! Let us hope I didn't just shoot myself in the foot, eh?? Though I do hope to take a chapter or two of Naruto when I can. :3 I miss Naruto-kun!!
