Yes, I have returned to the land of rain, hippies, and flaming liberals. )

I also took Tsuksuhi's tower outside and used some canned air to clean out all the dust. And there was a lot of it, since I've never cleaned her guts before. ^^;; I have her all plugged in again, but I have yet to turn her on. *gulp* I'm afraid she won't restart...um....*turns her on and holds her breath* Looks good so far...success! I do believe she survived being turned off after an entire year of constant running, and my inexperienced cleaning today! Yay!! I have given myself the day off, but working even a little bit will help me relax. ^^ Natsume 8 awaits!

Upcoming in a later post: pics!! XD Possibly flocked, I haven't decided yet. :D

This time next week, I'll be visiting my parents back in Texas. It's always a shock for me to study the architecture when I first travel through DFW. Portland is very vertical when it comes to buildings, due to lack of space. Dallas/Fort Worth is quite horizontal by comparison. Curious, no?

Work is progressing slowly, if steadily. Clay 18 is due on the 21st, and I intend to finish Saiun 3 on the same day, which is actually a week before deadline. Looks like I'll finish both without too much trouble, though I can't let myself slack off. I haven't touched Natsume 8 aside from one page done a couple weeks ago so I could focus on Clay and Saiun. Once those two are done, I won't have anything to letter except Natsume 8 until script for Saiun 4 arrives, probably sometime in late January. I'll have to scramble to finish Natsume 8, but with only that one title to letter, it shouldn't be a problem. *knocks on wood*

I've already started laying down extra bowls of food and water for Spicer-kitty. I'll leave him with 3 water bowls and 5 food bowls, and I slowly build up to that number over about 3 weeks, so he won't come to associate extra bowls with me leaving him alone for days on end. *wince* I do feel guilty about that, of course, but it's "only" 3 days and change this time. I need to find a local female friend to visit him while I'm gone. I'm not that paranoid about guys, but Spicer-kitty IS, and he definitely handles strange women better than strange men.

I'm growing bored with my default icon (see this post). I don't know what I want to draw to replace it, though. Something from my original manga? Hmmmm.

I'm back in Oregon. ^^ My trip to the hometown was very enjoyable, it even snowed there for me! Heh! Every day was awesome. Thanks to my mom and some lovely restaurants I was able to eat almost all of my favorite foods that are only available there, and I received some great presents. XD

Presents, the movies I watched, snow, IRL friends, and cats! )
Yesterday I turned on Tsukushii (work computer) and everything was fine. I started Photoshop--and it froze. :\ I closed it, restarted Photoshop--froze again in the same place. Restarted entire computer, started Photoshop--yep. Reinstalled Photoshop from CD--also didn't work. asdfghjkl;!! I googled the phrase on the startup screen where it kept freezing plus the proggie name "Photoshop reading text global resources" and ended up with a ton of actual search results. Apparently freezing at that point is a common thing! First suggestion to fix it didn't work, the 2nd one did. Whew! Now I live in fear of having to restart Photoshop and encountering this problem again. What if none of the fixes work that 2nd time? *has wide eyes*

And now, the work front! I did  manage to finish two whole pages of Naruto 48 while in my parents' house. *laughs* Now that I'm back, I have to letter 6 pages a day to make my deadline of the 10th. Yesterday I did 12, so I'm not worried. Can't slack off, but not worried! Natsume 3 is in good shape, though I also have to stay on it. I fully expect to have script for Skip 22 or Nana 21.2 today or tomorrow. No news on New Title 5 yet, but it's coming. At least I know I have about four months before Clay 17 hits! Heh!

So ends my Giftmas and New Years holidaze. I am pleased with how they turned out! And now, back to our regularly scheduled work days.

I'm back from Montana, and it looks like the cold followed me home. *pained expression* Not only was the temperature somewhere in the teens when I stepped off the Max for the 3/4ths mile walk back to my apartment on Sunday night, but there was a strong wind blowing, too! Brrrrr! I ran a third of the distance, hauling 25 pounds of luggage between my backpack and roller suitcase. It was that cold. Guh.

Much writing about cats, trip details, book club, reading, anime, manga, Utena2, and movies. Wheee! )

And finally, a brief shigoto update: Naruto 48's conversion is coming along nicely, I'll finish the first half in about a week. I do have script for Natsume 3.2, and am about 12 pages in. Script for Nana 21.1 and Skip 22 are supposed to arrive sometime in January. Prolly the same can be said for New Title 5. It's all going to hit at once, looks like! Kyaaa! =D

Oh yes, and for a bit of an ironic laugh, I lugged Anthy, the drawing tablet I use with Usagi, to Montana with the plan of doing some work on my trip. However...I forgot to take the drawing stylus. And you can't walk into Best Buy or somesuch and pick up a replacement. So I lugged Anthy all that way as sheer dead weight. OOPS. *headdesk* I won't make that mistake again!

And now, minna, work calls. *salutes* (If anyone actually reads this whole post, I will be very impressed!)
slr2moons: a self-portrait, of me in my usual habitat: in front of my computer monitors! (chibi L)

Yesterday morning, I was nudged awake by my cat. I am not a morning person--at all--and Spicer-kitty almost always wakes me up anywhere from 5:30 to 7 so I can give him breakfast. After which, I flop back in bed for a few more hours. (Ahhh, the joys of being self-employed!) Normally for his wake-up-calls, Spicer-kitty will touch my face with his paw, so very delicately. Or my arm, if it's out from the covers. Sometimes he'll gently grip my scalp with his claws. He does so in silence, maybe with an encouraging trilling meow when I first lurch upright to crawl into the kitchen.

Yesterday, however, Spicer-kitty awoke me with the sweetest of purrs. I was laying on my side, and I opened my eyes to see him sitting in the bend of my neck and shoulder, purring like he was in heaven, eyes huge. He gently patted my chest. I smiled, thought how sweet it was for him to purr for me, and drifted back off. He awoke me again with his touch, this time on my breast.

Through my sleep-fogged brain, I realized he was acting differently. Normally he only touches bare skin, as he's figured out touching the sheets or my nightclothes isn't as effective for wake-up-and-feed-me-now purposes. He was still purring, so I scratched him behind the ears and thought, D'awwwww...Spicer-kitty's suddenly a boob man, and began to drift off.

Spicer-kitty immediately groped my chest again.

My sleepy brain began to meander, something like this:

Why would Spicer-kitty suddenly be obsessed with my boobs...? Why is he purring..?. There he goes again, batting at my chest...batting. And purring. With huge eyes. He does this when he's...

Stalking something. )

Ever since it turned colder, Spicer-kitty has been utilizing two sources of constant warmth for sleeping purposes. Of course, he's liked the nook between Utena and Tsukushi's monitors for quite some time, but apparently that isn't as warm and cozy as laying on top of Utena's tower.

I keep a folded pillowcase on top of Utena, both for kitties and to keep my keyboard from sliding off, since that's where I set it when it's not in my lap. (I have no desk space for Utena's keyboard.) Periodically I remove the cat hair from it. Anyway, Spicer-kitty is a rather large cat, so Utena is just long enough for his body to lay comfortably lengthwise, leaving his legs and tail dangling off the sides. (Like right now, for instance.) *pauses to pet the kitty*

However, Spicer's first choice of warm winter bed is not between the monitors, nor on Utena. It is on top of my laser printer. I do understand, since the printer is a nice square shape, fairly level, good for curling up into a contented serving-plate sized ball of kitty. And it is indeed warm. Both of these apparently trump Utena's pillowcase padding and the safe nook that is between the monitors.

I find this rather surprising because I use the printer. Many times a day, as both our cats know. It's a rather noisy machine, and makes rumbles for 4 seconds before it spits out a manga page. The pages come out on top of the printer. You know...right where the cat likes to sleep.
