slr2moons: a self-portrait, of me in my usual habitat: in front of my computer monitors! (hopeful)
Stumptown 2012 was as fun and amazing as 2011 was not. Last year I was so stressed and drowning with work that I only had time to join Shoujo Editor 2 for dinner both nights, and a little hanging out with my Portland friends. But this year, I scheduled the 3 days off months in advance, and it was worth it. :D

More on Stumptown! )

One of my favorite aspects of this weekend was on Sunday afternoon while waiting to head out for food-cart dinner. I was able to chat with J and watch her do a little work in digital painting. She has some amazing Photoshop brushes I'd never seen before! I had no idea Photoshop brushes could do all that stuff! *has been edumacated* She kindly sent me the whole batch, and now I have 100+ megs of new brushes and NO CLUE how to use them. Whee!! XD I need to turn my hand to more color work, and thus begin learning how best to apply these fancy thingamabobs to maybe turn out some shiny pics.

To that end, I've signed up once again for the [livejournal.com profile] het_bigbang, for fanart brings in page views! The hot fandom this year seem to be Game of Thrones. Hmmmm.

To finish this post with random fun, I updated my beloved ficrecs site today, and added Google Analytics to it. For I have always been obsessive about my hits. More information on them will be so fascinating!!!

...happiness is slr2moons in a bookstore. But today, happiness is a single serving of rice with my beef and zucchini stew, and two swallows of almond milk.

JOY. COMPLETE AND UTTER JOY. *blissful sigh*

Yes, my two weeks of no sugar-carbohydrates-lactose-caffeine is finally over. I have coffee brewing on the counter, and a delicious breakfast sitting pretty in my stomach. MMM. :9

Skip and Natsume are here. Skip has a strict but doable deadline, Natsume is due a few weeks later. With the fight-heavy volumes of Clay and Naruto already on my plate, life is interesting once again!

Now, to work. I want to channel this food-given high into some pink and orange level difficulty pages.

Ahhh...such rapture! *wanders off with stars in eyes*

Yes, goat. As in the actual barnyard animal. Floppy ears, two stubby horns, cloven hooves, cute scruffy upright tail. For clarity, it was goat curry. I've never had goat before--curry or otherwise--but this particular dish was quite tasteful. :9 If you are wondering where one might find goat to eat, in this case it was in an Indian restaurant. I've never had Indian food before, either. It's hardly common in the neck of Texas where I grew up, and by the time I was mature enough to appreciate unusual foreign cuisine (read: not Tex-Mex, Italian, Chinese/Tai, or Korean due to my aunt) my interests were focused on Japanese fare.

Indian restaurants are ALL OVER Portland. There are two within 5 blocks of me, I kid you not. *snicker* I've never had the courage to just walk in on my own and order something, but thankfully on Monday I had two wonderful guides with me in the persons of my newest local friends, [livejournal.com profile] neekaneeks and [livejournal.com profile] mcruthless. When last we met IRL, they learned I'd never had Indian food and was interested in correcting that, and on Monday they made good on their promise to expand my culinary horizons. I was very glad to have them as guides, since the buffet dish labels were not very helpful for noobs. :B

I'm sure the specific restaurant was part of it (and no doubt the good company too), but I enjoyed my first time eating Indian. I cleaned my plate and went back for seconds. ^^V I look forward to having it again! My one tiny complaint: no salt and pepper shakers on the table. I could have used those.

Oh yes, I'm going to try posting shorter entries less often. If I stop trying to write a novella with every post, I'm quite sure I'll be able to post more frequently. Besides, today I don't want to distract from the fact that I ate goat, something which I find rather amusing. Heeeee.

GOAT.
