slr2moons: a self-portrait, of me in my usual habitat: in front of my computer monitors! (Default)
Hello, my friends!

Today, I bring you two bits of good news. First, the Yuletide fic is finished! WOOT! XD I asked three people to beta read it for me, and I am so glad I did. It's amazing how many errors each one found that I missed in my uncountable read-throughs and edits. I'm not completely blind, though, because last night on my own final hard-copy read-through, I found a logic fail that would have been really embarrassing. ^^;; But no matter! I fixed that and all the problems my beta readers also caught, and YAY, it's done! Now, I can relax. But not too much, because...

I HAVE A NEW TITLE TO LETTER!!!1!1

It's with my beloved Shoujo Editor 2. She says the license won't be announced for a few more months, so I can't give any specifics, but I am truly excited. It has several volumes out in Japan, and is an ongoing series, which means more steady work for me! *tears of joy* I have read some of the mangaka's other work and found it quite enjoyable. And also...shiny art. Beautiful, gorgeous art!! *more tears of joy*

This one will have to be lettered in InDesign, but we all knew it was coming. SE2 says we will probably get clean (meaning text-free) digital pages from Japan, which would be a huge time saver. *crosses fingers for good luck* Here's hopin'!

Everyone, please welcome New Title 10 to the lineup. XD KYAA!
I have lots of other things to chat about, but best to save them for another post. I want this one to be all joy! *happy dance*

Remember how I said I was going to make myself a candle to celebrate sending the first draft of the fic off to my beta readers?

Yeah. XD

Final word count: 11,508 words.

And now, I don't have to think about the fic until my two wonderful, generous beta readers end it back to me. ^^V

The end is in sight. C: Once it's in the betas' hands, I think I'm going to celebrate by making another candle. For it is fun and productive.

Now, back to the fic!!! YEAH! XD

Today I intended to spend a good 4 or 5 hours writing, but it just didn't happen. On Wednesday, I bumped up my running intensity again. Now I'm at 3 minutes run, 1 walk, for the entire 3.25 mile route. This being the third day, I am wiped out. Blargh.

I also lettered a Skip Page from Hell today, a pink one. With flashbacks.

(Wow, I AM tired. It took me four tries to type the end lj-cut code.)

Write-in #3 is tomorrow, in a new place. I am excited! Even though I can't figure out why Google Maps driving directions wants me to make a turn around the block to reach the place, when by all appearances and the Google Maps camera, I can just do a left turn right into the place. WTHIDGI. There's a left turn lane, and no no-left-turn sign on the stoplight, and the street isn't one-way. Whatever. I'll figure it out tomorrow.

Everyone, I hope you have more energy than me! And that my Page from Hell write-up wasn't too confusing. ^^

This evening, I realized I can't take it easy and just poke the Yuletide fic whenever I feel like it. The fic is due on December 20th, but I want to upload no later than the 18th. Three days to tweak after beta reading means beta done by the 15th. One week for beta means sending the fic to them by the 8th. That means finishing no later than the 7th.

Today is the 3rd. Or rather the 4th, as I type this.

Oh dear. ^^;;

I'm almost through with the banging-out, which is when I just type like mad and plan out what will happen, record random lines of dialogue, make notes to myself, and just get as much of the fic's events on paper as I can, without regard to SPaG, word choice, or readability. It's just me talking to myself in one big stream of consciousness recording.

In fact, now I think about it, the banging-out is pretty much done. I'll read it over tomorrow with a (hopefully) clear mind, firm up the timeline, look for glaring errors (I caught a major logic fail today! Whew!) and maybe even begin the actual writing. Here's hopin'!

No, I'm not stressed out about it. I know I can write a solid and enjoyable fic, I simply have to, you know, WRITE it. Wheeee!

I decided if I felt so guilty about not making a post to LJ and upset that my flist traffic has died down so much, then I should make a post to LJ. :P~~~

I finished the rush lettering job for the new (to me) publisher, and celebrated by going to see Wreck-It Ralph on Thursday night. I had to wind my way around the campers waiting for the final Twilight film's midnight opening--and there were a lot of them. O.o Anyway, I really enjoyed the movie and am completely stuck on one of the game's theme songs, Sugar Rush. The chorus is so catchy! ye olde youtube link. No, Youtube, I do NOT want my real name on my channel, "slr2moons" is NOT hard to read thank you very much, and why do I need a stupid channel anyway? I just want to watch random videos a couple times a month! Lose the FB layout, too. Ugh!

I decided to start lettering the logo portion of Skip Beat title pages in vol 31. I can't finish the pages without the script's translation of each chapter title, but I can definitely do the logo part. ^^ Nothing like getting a head start! Especially since the first two chapter title pages in this vol are complicated pink ones. Wheee!

Star-chan, my BFF, has suggested I start drawing mini-comics--or as she called them, "drabble comics" (I like that a lot more than "mini-comics")--to build up my confidence with sequential art storytelling. I do have this incredibly foolish complex about making comics, and the only way to get over it is to prove to myself that I can do it.

Time to get started on that Skip Beat title page. Act 183, here I come! And I have more cleaning to do, to. Ugh.

(I need to set up the mirror posting thing to Dreamwidth. Something else on my to-do list. But for now, copypasta!)

ETA: Actually, I CAN completely letter this page of Skip, because it has the same title as the previous few chapters from vol 30. Nice. :D
