slr2moons: a self-portrait, of me in my usual habitat: in front of my computer monitors! (caffeine)
I lost two days of my life this weekend to an incredible HP fic epic...and to the heat. I've officially lived in the Pacific NW long enough to have lost my tolerance for hot humid days. Wheee! Anyway, that fic was amazing and I loved every minute of the entire 330,000 word experience, and I regret nothing! My only disappointment is that the fic never became Harry/Draco, but danced alll around it. Harry with long hair...and Draco tending it!! Pardon me while I swoon. *swoons* I am such a sucker for pretty men with pretty long hair!! X3 I must save the fic and its sequel to my hard drive so they WILL BE MINE FOREVER and eternally hope that the author decides to write more and tackle her fanon's version of Voldie's defeat...and maybe give me more litle tidbits of allllmost Drarry to flail over. *gazes up beseechingly at the fic gods* PLEEEZE!!!

If anyone is interested in experiencing the fic for themselves, be my guest: Blood Magic by GatewayGirl. *paws at her screen* I WANT MOAAAARRRRR...

Ahem. Yes, that fic and the all-too-short sequel (which at 26,00 words is still longer than my own longest fic) are both shoo-ins for my recs page. :D

Last Wednesday I headed across the river to hang out for several hours with fellow HP fans, though amusingly enough we barely talked about HP. ^^ I had tons of fun with [livejournal.com profile] saladbats, [livejournal.com profile] snottygirl, [livejournal.com profile] winnett, and met a new friend in [livejournal.com profile] katelinmr. I also had whiskey in my coffee, and pear juice with brandy! Both were very tasty. Would drink again! :9

Before the HP fangirl meetup, I tried to stalk the Goose Hollow Portland neighborhood with my digital camera, for background reference picture taking. Only my already low batteries finally died, and ALL THREE of my extra batteries died, too! O.o WTH? I've decided there must have been a ghost that sucked the juice dry. I think I took about 10 pics before the battery crisis. I'll have to buy a new package of AAs and give it a try again. :P

Non-fandom stuff: an upcoming trip, exercising, and some new art I'm making. )

Tired and woozy slr2moons is also kinda prone to rambling in her LJ posts. Hmm. I'd better sign off now. Quit while I'm ahead!

Wednesday night, winter said goodbye with a beautiful snowfall. My area had about an inch of snow, I think. I walked in it twice, once Wednesday evening when it had been falling for about half an hour, and then the next day when it was already melting. It lasted until 3 PM, I was impressed. Today on my walk, I saw the sad remains of a couple of snowmen, fighting to live on lawns in my neighborhood.

Good-bye, snow! See you again in 9 months or so. *wistful sigh*

For the record, having grown up in north-central Texas, where snow falls maybe 3 times a year and actually sticks once every other year, it will always hold a magical place in my heart. I'm sure I'd have already changed my mind if I'd moved to, say, Minnesota...but here in my part of Oregon, it snows maybe 7 times a year and sticks for 2, so it's still magical to me. :3

I am also happy to say that I am as caught up with Bleach manga as it is possible to (legally) be in North America! Thanks to my subscription to SJ Alpha, I can read the new chapter only 2 weeks after it appears in Japan. The chances of me happening across spoilers in fic or art are negligible!!! I can now read almost any fic without fear!!! Yes, this pleases me greatly. ^^

Next on my manga catch-up list...Bakuman. XD I have...*checks* 100 chapters to read. Not as bad as Bleach, for which I had about 170! ^^V

I'm hard at work on Clay 21 and Naruto 59. Trying to finish as many difficult pages as I can before Skip 29 and Natsume 13 hit. I have scripts for both, but no raw pages from Japan. Oh yes, and I finished the 2nd one-shot book I did for the new genre sort-of being released by Viz.

A little health stuff, under the cut to save those who'd rather not. )

Back to work for me! I have no idea what is going on in Clay 21, bouncing around from difficult page to difficult page as I am. Everyone is fighting everyone else, I swear. :P

ETA: Fish skin is sticky!! (Apologies to any vegetarians or vegans or see this.)

To be blunt, I've been feeling rather fat lately. I noticed my collarbones don't stick out as much as they normally do, and I can't feel my shoulder blades as well, either. So I faced the music and stepped on the scale with much dread. Yep. 143. I've gained 3 pounds of fat. X|

I'm determined to lose these last 10 pounds. I want to be 130 pounds--if only for a week--so I can see if I like it. And yes, I can spare to lose it. Those final 10 pounds of fat are on my hips and butt. Believe me, I'm not going to make myself sick from starvation any time soon.

The interesting thing about being back on the low-calorie wagon is that it's very difficult for me to make it over the 3-day hump. Here lately I'll be very good and restrict myself to no more than 1300 or so calories, but on the 3rd or 4th day, I'll go insane and stuff myself. It doesn't help that this is winter, which brings on the burning hunger as my always-cold self demands fuel to keep me warm. If I can simply make it over the hump, I can use the inner furnace to help burn away this excess fat. Oh, and for those who might not know, I'm 5 foot 7. So 140 pounds, my current weight, looks okay...as long as you don't compare my backside to that of a svelte teenager. If you do, it's pudge city. *puffs up cheeks to demonstrate*

*drums fingers* And of course, with this cold and windy weather, I can't have my daily runs outside for fear of giving myself a cold or the flu. So I'm stuck pedaling on my exercise bike, or walking/jogging up and down the long hallway here at home. While both can make my legs tremble with exhaustion, they don't do much for the heart rate. At least the exercise forces my body to keep the muscle and burn the fat instead. And I mostly know what I'm doing. I'm no expert, but I've managed to lose 35 pounds this way, and keep it off for the past 1 and a half years. 10 more...only 10 more!!

Hmmm. I'm a bit distracted tonight...I'm on pins and needles waiting for a reply to an email. As with The New Title I can't give specifics, but I'm really really REALLY hoping the timing will be right for me take Temporary New Title #2. And I might take it anyway. Who needs a social life, after all? When I read the offering email, I was in shock. I was actually shaking for about 15 minutes. I asked about deadlines, which is the reply I'm waiting to read. But apparently the original emailer had left for the evening before I replied, so now I'm stuck waiting until tomorrow. *in agony*

And on that fun and unfortunately vague note, I shall depart. (OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG...)
